Not that I give a whit about Booker, but why would suicide by firearm not qualify as a violent gun death?
It does in a narrow sense, but the real context should be: Are you a threat to someone else? If someone decides to shoot himself, he normally isn’t a threat to anyone else.
And if the person committing suicide didn’t have a gun, they would find another way.
So for the argument of whether or not guns are a threat to society, we should not include suicides by gun, at least not when the shooter is the only death involved.

Suicide is technically a murder, but if you can't distinguish between a gang banger shooting a 4 year old in a stroller, and a person dying of cancer and swallowing his 38, there is no help for you...go chug a brew.
