Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Proposes Same Gun Controls Now Failing in California

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) used Wednesday’s State of the State address to propose the same gun controls now failing to stop high profile shootings in California.

Moreover, she made this proposal at a time in which California witnessed three high profile shootings in a three day time-frame.

FOX 17 reported that Whitmer called for universal background checks, a red flag law, and safe storage requirements for firearms.

California adopted universal background checks in the 1990s and Gov. Jerry Brown (D) signed extreme risk protection order legislation (red flag legislation) into law shortly after the May 23, 2014, attack that left six dead in Santa Barbara.

By February 9, 20219, Breitbart News noted gun confiscations in the state were surging under the red flag law.

She personally needs to be out there confiscating them. Put her ass where her mouth is.

Is Michigan that far gone?

The Democrats took over the state House and Senate, so they will ram through all the gun control measures that they can while they can.

Anti gun laws only apply to law abiding gun owners and are designed to control them and them only because the scoundrels who hold political office fear all armed patriotic citizens, as they should.

Rigged "elections" have consequences.

I'll note that Whitmer got 75,000 more ballots in 2022 than she did in 2018.

In a state with a falling population, and one that just lost a US House seat over that very fact...

Yes, it seems Michigan is that far gone! Where on earth the people of Michigan dug this one up from, is beyond my comprehension. Glad I don’t have to live there.

I lay everything that happens for the next 2 years squarely at the feet of the bush league chamber of commerce worshiping republiCAN’Ts that ran this state for decades.
All this crap is about to happen could have been written into law to prevent it long ago. But did they?
Nooooooooooo...
You see, the chamber of commerce is dead set against loosening restrictions on firearms. They want what the democommies are selling.
And what legacy do our bush league chamber of commerce worshiping republiCAN’Ts leave us with?
A huge tax increase on senior citizens and retiree’s...

Seems to be a concerted push. Illinois just passed it's ludicrous semi-auto ban. A similar bill is proposed in CO, the senile coots Joetato and Feinswine called for a new Federal ban, and now the wicked witch of the Mitten is proposing hers.

The CA AWB and magazine bans are now both before Judge Benitez who threw them out using history and tradition the first time. The 9th en banc reversed his decision, but SCOTUS reversed that and remanded. Hopefully, he'll strike them down again with an even more ironclad case that can be used in the other circuits to finally deep six this nonsense.

RAT Governor, AG , SC and SOS means rigged elections and now both houses. Mi will get 9 month abortions and a crippled 2nd A. I expect they will repeal the right to work law within a year. They shoved through the state equivalent of HR1 so Mi is done. period.

I think they expect gun control to fail so that they can start bans/ confiscations....and the law-abiding will comply.

As soon as I could retire, I fled to Ohio from Michigan. Looks like I did right - Ohio is now Constitutional Carry, while Michigan is going Stalinist.

I doubt she won. I dont know anybody here that likes her. I mean I usually run into Dems but even they say they dont like her. There is no doubt in my mind that the election process here in Michigan is legit.

The controls are succeeding wildly - at making politicians feel safe from high-profile shootings.

The margins in both houses are slim. Just a few defectors and these proposals are DOA. Plus, even some dem areas (Detroit, for one) have become relatively pro-gun in recent years.
