Some Manatee County teachers have covered their classroom libraries with construction paper or otherwise eliminated students' access to make sure they comply with new Florida law requiring all library books to be approved by a certified media specialist.
The Manatee County School District directed teachers to remove all books that had not yet been approved by a specialist from their classroom libraries, Kevin Chapman, the district's chief of staff, said Monday.

If anyone doesn't think the fake news and Democrats are going to be objective when covering Ron DeSantis, think again.
Local Florida media hates him with a passion.
Hiding their PORN ?
American libraries don’t not need trash books about mythical Africa. If the students want to learn about that fairy tale, they need to go to Africa to do that.
This is hugh, Manatee
I love the smell of liberal fear.

IF the libraries were doing the right thing in the first place this wouldn’t be necessary. When hilly said “it takes a village”, who would have thought she meant a village of radicals, socialists and perverts.
When they say “class library” they mean “junior porn collection”
Orwell’s Animal Farm ought to be required reading as well as 1984.
This is about the teacher’s personal, in the classroom library.
The teacher’s personal book collection that he/she permits her students to borrow.
If some woke teacher puts ‘Billy has Two Mommies’ or ‘A Drag Queen Goes to Washington’ on his shelf the school librarian has nothing to do with it.
Unless the principal is checking what’s on those shelves there is no supervision of what the teacher is loaning to students what so ever.
The left keeps accusing my supergovernor DeSantis of “banning books” but they never say WHAT books......someone needs to ask ‘em that question and make ‘em specifically identify what they are......I suspect that would shut them up.
Apparently, the porn books are placed on the bookshelves by perverts under the cover of darkness.
Otherwise, why is it so hard for a librarian to find a book that they catalogued?????
GOOD! it is a start in the right direction! They can take their filthy immorality elsewhere for all we care!
Exactly. She didn’t mean just any old village- the left never do- they mean very specific villages full of corrupt filthy immoral people
Supeintendent must be a psycho or the School Board must have migrated from Loudain County Va..
We have a neighbors, husband and wife, with a winter place in Florida. They are the nicest people. At a Christmas party, I mentioned what a great governor DeSantis is and they went berserk, absolutely apoplectic. Being Christmas, knowing that they hate Trump, and knowing exactly where any discussion of DeSantis would go, I dropped that like a hot potato.
I was absolutely shocked at their beliefs.
It’s not fear, it’s more of their insufferable drama performance. I expect the governors office to blow their hissy fit out of the water presently
Drama Queens gonna drama.
Since many campii faculties have cliques and clans that sometimes disagree with other, it could happen that a forbidden book gets planted in a class library, is found, and the teacher is terminated. Whether the termination is fair would depend on which clique the inquisitor belongs to.
I see the elimination of personal classroom libraries as a self-defense move.
