Further, even though it did take place under the Trump
administration (which it did - December 19, 2017) COVID
was not on the radar for a full two more years.
Trump would not have been involved with this decision.
The second article also fails to have the name Trump
in it.
Yes, it did happen on his watch. A lot of things do
that he has absolutely nothing to do with.
As for re-instating the ban, that is not his job.
The medical community handles such things. Congress
can address such things.
Trump is not the last word on such things. It’s way
outside his wheel-house.
I’m not going to dump on you. I just think it’s wrong
to go after him on that. By the time the November
2020 elections were held, the powers that be were
still denying COVID-19 came from the Wuhan lab.
We accepted that it did, but the so-called experts were
nowhere near agreement on that. I don’t think that
happened for several more years, and I’m not sure
they even yet are comfortable with where it came from,
as a recognized fact.
I think you’d probably agree with me after reading
this. Maybe not.
It was my understanding that the ban was NEVER overturned BUT Fauci went behind Trump’s back and did it anyway because he thought he could get away with it!! Trump did not KNOW!!

However in this case, it appears we disagree. The NIH is an Executive Branch organization, under the direct control of the President. Just as Obama was able to stop the process while President, Trump had that same authority.
And gain of function was a topic of great national discussion and controversy by April 2020. Trump had plenty of time while he was President, and much more of a legitimate reason, to ban it than Obama did.
