Ukraine dismissed the governors of five battlefield provinces and an array of other senior officials on Tuesday in the biggest shakeup of its wartime leadership since Russia's invasion last year.
Separately on Tuesday, a long-awaited decision on whether allies could send German-made heavy tanks to Ukraine finally reached Berlin, after Poland said it had formally sent its request.
Among more than a dozen senior Ukrainian officials who resigned or were dismissed on Tuesday were the governors of the Kyiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
All five regions have been major battlefields over the past year, giving their governors an unusually high national profile.
A deputy defence minister, a deputy prosecutor, a deputy head of President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's office and two deputy ministers responsible for regional development were among the others who left.
Some, though not all, had been linked with corruption allegations. Ukraine has a history of graft and shaky governance, and is under international pressure to show it can be a reliable steward of billions of dollars in Western aid.
"There are already personnel decisions - some today, some tomorrow - regarding officials at various levels in ministries and other central government structures, as well as in the regions and in law enforcement," President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in an overnight video address.
Zelenskiy aide Mykhailo Podolyak tweeted: "The president sees and hears society. And he directly responds to a key public demand – justice for all."
The purge came two days after a deputy infrastructure minister was arrested and accused of siphoning off $400,000 from contracts to buy generators in one of the first big corruption scandals to become public since the war began 11 months ago.

"CIA Director William Burns held secret meeting with Ukraine’s Zelensky on Russia moves"
When Russia has a leadership shakeup, it means they’re losing the war.
When Ukraine has a leadership shakeup it must mean they’re winning,
This is not something that a winning government does. Three of their top legal officials were assassinated, probably for wanting a bigger cut of the spoils.
People here complained about corruption. Now they are addressing the corruption.
But they are still killing Russian invaders.
Really how would a you know what winning governments do?
How many war efforts against a Russian invasion in Europe have you headed up?
These were not military officials.
Twist and turn all you want, but the Ukraine government is collapsing, despite all the propaganda you pushed forward. Sit tight Williams, I won't let you forget about your anti-American, Zelensky cheering over this past year.
Another thing to think about is who in the military could Zelensky purge? It is not like Ukraine has any control of their own troops which are run by NATO and America as well as the various western spy agencies. Zelensky could fire Ukrainian generals who do not follow NATO dictates but that is about it.
You may be disappointed in giving Williams his comeuppance. His account, like most of the obsessed pro-Ukrainian Zeepers accounts, will go as quiet as theirs were before the war.
I think the US backed former state of Ukraine has openings in their Ministry of Propaganda.
You aren’t very good at it but they’re having trouble filling these positions. Maybe you could be good for something.
I doubt it.
All the officials linked to corruption.
Good. Ukraine cleaning house.
You are 100% correct. Just like the VaxxTards, who pushed the mRNA shot, they will try and crawl back under the rocks from whence they came.
😃😃😃
When Boris Johnson was sent in again by the WEF yesterday, you had to know they were given the order to hopelessly grind up another 175,000 Ukrainian children soldiers.
F’ing madness.
There will never be a day when the Russia, the Ukraine, and Byelorussia are not corrupt. They are three peas in a pod.
Boy I dunno...the USA government cant be far behind.
It isn’t. We have become a ‘banana republic’.
So how many generals has Putin fired?
