This spectacle puzzles me.

The simplest ‘criminal’ action would have been to just do your own search and then burn the documents. Then “we don’t have any!” would have been a simple response AND the FBI would find nothing and the ‘scandal’ would fade away.

If I was writing a political thriller, I would stage the current process as the ‘thousand cuts’ method of removing an un-useful political figure by non-violent means.

Biden and his team are proving to be so susceptible to the "means" as well. Trump too for that matter. Looks like they intended to swat them both with one swing. Either both get a pass or both suffer the consequences of the trap. Which way will it go? Like you said, a thriller.
