Two Republican lawmakers introduced a bill on Friday to defund any university that offers students chemical abortion pills, according to its press release.

Republican Texas Rep. Chip Roy and Republican Montana Sen. Steve Daines introduced the “Protecting Life on College Campus Act of 2023” on the same day as the 50th anniversary of the March for Life, which was also the first March for Life since the overturn of Roe v. Wade. The bill would prohibit federal funding being given to universities which provide students or employees with abortion medication.

Universities would be required to submit an annual report to the secretary of Education and the secretary of Health and Human Services to confirm that it did not provide students with on-site access to abortion.

taxpayer should not be paying for the destruction of innocent human life on our college campuses. But, as we already know, what the abortion industry really cares about are profits—not the welfare of mothers or the integrity of higher learning,” Roy said in Friday’s press release. “The Protecting Life on College Campuses Act is about guarding young college women and their unborn children from the predatory abortion industry’s radical and reckless push for universal access to abortions.”

Good idea, but it will never pass the Senate, if not the House. The authors of the bill know it as well.

“Universities” should not be providing abortifacients. They should be teaching the basics of Western Civilization.

That battle was lost long ago.

The only hope of saving state universites, and private ones, is for alumni to stop donations.

They know the only thing it will accomplish is to energize Democrats against us, as happened in 2022. These "Republicans" are not on our side.

“...defund any university that offers students chemical abortion pills...”

They may not be right here. The efforts that produced the overturn of Roe was not to stop or continue abortion. It was to get the decision out of the hands of the feds and put it back into the hands of the people. Whether the people want it or not, that is the decision of the states and the people that make them up to decide. And federal government was told in court, their only tie to the decision, to stay out of it. It was not a win for either party, it was a win for the people. So by using a method like this to get back into trying to sway the decision, by either side, is an effort to get back into that decision making process. It is a step back especially if either party gets back into it, the other won’t be far behind. And the people will sadly end up right back where we started, not being a part of the decision.

What I would suggest, is either get the staff into some form
of ideological parity, or shut them down.
