A New Mexico prosecutor on Thursday charged actor Alec Baldwin and others in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during the filming of Western “Rust.”
District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies announced involuntary manslaughter charges against Baldwin and the film’s armorer after more than a year of investigation into the October 2021 shooting on a film set outside Santa Fe.
Assistant director David Halls has signed a plea agreement for the charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon, the prosecutor said in a statement.
“After a thorough review of the evidence and the laws of the state of New Mexico, I have determined that there is sufficient evidence to file criminal charges against Alec Baldwin and other members of the ‘Rust’ film crew,” Carmack-Altwies said.

I am frankly surprised charges were filed. This is a very heavily Democrat County- 71% for Biden if I recall correctly. Indictment probably never would have been sought if Baldwin just stayed silent.
He wont spend a day in jail.
I don’t know what she is charged with, but charges of negligence is the appropriate charge. It was her duty to prep the gun so that the gun did not represent a threat to anybody else.
It would be same kind of charge if you had the responsibility of strapping down some lumber and you didn’t take proper care to do so and your driver lost his load and it ended up killing somebody.
I just waiting for Alec’s bride, Hilaria, to post a few pics of herself standing on her head (yoga position) and in tears, while one of her toddler sons wipes the tears away with a dishtowel.

They are all charged the same. Its appropriate for all of them.
Comments from liberals around the net are hysterical. They are defending Baldwin. If it had been Adam Baldwin, they would be screaming for 1st degree murder charges.

The gun got 20 to life.
They all played roles, but their level of responsibility differs. The armorer failed to do her job, but she didn’t pull the trigger. She can only be charged within the sphere of the consequences of her failing to do her job. Baldwin can’t be charged with negligence, because he didn’t prep the gun. But he can be charged with an offense for not checking the gun and for pulling the trigger.
Eventually, the corrupt DA will quietly drop the charges.

I agree that a deal will be made that will end without a jail sentence. Maybe a lifetime ban from New Mexico or something along that lines.
They were on a movie set. So how did a real bullet get into the gun in the first place? I will never understand this. People filming movies never put real bullets in guns. My only conclusion is that Alec for some reason wanted to kill this woman and got a bullet into the gun on his own.
