Sigh
Goodbye old friend, I knew ye well. Though I've never owned one, or even spent a lot of time around bikes, it saddens me to watch your demise.....
My gosh, what's next? Are they gonna go after my chainsaw? My snow blower?
Will I still be able to shift?
I got a battery powered chainsaw a few years ago. Love it. As long as I had four batteries so I could change and charge i was able to just keep cutting. Beat mixing oil and gas …..
But unless they can quick sharge don’t see any vehicle being viable. Better acceleration but range is problem.
“Are they gonna go after my chainsaw?” Yes. They’ve already gone after leaf blowers in a lot of areas.
Last summer I traded in my gas Stihl saws for their top of the line corded electric saw. I used my gas Stihls for more than 25 years and got tired of them not starting when I needed them. The corded unit I have will cut just as fast and just as long as a comparable sized gas unit. On it’s inaugural service, I tried to wear it out on a 27” diameter oak log. I cut steady for about 90 minutes and the saw ran strong the entire time. The balance in the hands is different from the gas unit, but I adjusted. Natural gas-powered corded chainsaw for me! However, I do miss the noise and the smell of gasoline and revving those mightly little two strokes.
Already are. Electrics only in California after 2025.................

If you live in CA they are.
I love my electric chainsaw
I use it to cut large wood to small wood for my bbq smokers.
I use vegetable oil as chain oil so I don’t get petroleum oil in my smoke.

I've had two, but I would never purchase an electric model.
Yep, they already are in Cali.
