The United States plans to send Ukraine nearly 100 Stryker combat vehicles as part of a roughly $2.5 billion shipment of arms and equipment that is expected to be announced at a meeting of allies in Germany on Friday, two U.S. officials said on Thursday.
The decision to send the Strykers, which could be delivered within weeks, comes just days after Britain committed to sending Ukraine 14 Challenger battle tanks and the United States, France and Germany agreed to send dozens of armored infantry fighting vehicles, including 50 Bradley Fighting Vehicles. Germany has also been under pressure to authorize the delivery of German-made Leopard 2 battle tanks to Ukraine.
Colin H. Kahl, the U.S. under secretary of defense for policy, told reporters on Wednesday that Ukraine needed more mechanized infantry and armored personal carriers to punch through heavily fortified Russian defenses.
“The Russians are really digging in,” he said. “They’re digging in. They’re digging trenches, they’re putting in these dragon’s teeth, laying mines.”
“To enable the Ukrainians to break through given Russian defenses,” he added, “the emphasis has been shifted to enabling them to combine fire and maneuver in a way that will prove to be more effective.”

How about shipping some cash to hurricane ravaged Florida?
What we're fighting for!
“Exterminated,” eh?
Inner russian comes out.
The training required to become proficient in Combined Arms Warfare is immense. One cannot climb aboard an M1, Bradley, or Striker turn the key on, and go fight. Combined arms warfare requires the integration of Combat, Combat Support, and Combat Service Support operations. It would take years to make uninitiated soldiers capable of conducting those operations.
The West is in desperation mode. They are throwing feces against the wall and hoping something sticks. Completely bereft of strategy. The decision to try to send U.K. and German tanks to Ukraine is the most recent indicator that London, Berlin and Washington are hitting the panic button.
ussian military forces, with the Wagner Group leading the charge, has breached the Bakhmut, Soledar, Siversk line of defense. While Ukrainian troops continue to occupy Bakhmut and Siversk, the Russians are grinding on and appear to have effected a tactical encirclement of Bakhmut. Taking Bakhmut and clearing settlements to the south of Ukrainian forces is a critical step in forging genuine security for Donetsk. When Bakhmut falls expect an uptick in the wailing and gnashing of teeth in London and Washington. They will be tempted to launch more desperate gambits.
Update on the conflict in Ukraine for January 18, 2023.
- Bakhmut faces encirclement by Russian forces;
- The Netherlands is considering sending Patriot missile systems after West blames Russia for residential building strike;
- Ukrainian presidential adviser Arestovich has resigned after suggesting the building was hit because of a failed Ukrainian interception of a Russian cruise missile;
- The building strike appears to be serving as a pretext for a planned escalation by the US and its allies;
- Ukraine also lost its interior minister to a helicopter crash;
- The Western media admits current aid to Ukraine is not sufficient, although suggested increases will unlikely turn the tide;
- The US and its allies are preparing for their monthly meeting discussing expanded military aid to Ukraine on January 20, 2023;
I had 4 hours to assemble, equip, and train my soldiers (all Air Defense Artillery) as an Infantry platoon, to include issuing live ammunition before leaving our motor pool.
I took a minimum of two hours in refresher training for my soldiers, whose last infantry experience was back in Basic. Even that was insufficient in my opinion, though we never had an accident, injury, or weapon fired accidentally during the six episodes I was involved with.
I can’t imagine turning over these combat vehicles to Ukraine without significant and thorough training.
Which is why the US has started training Ukrainian troops in combined arms warfare.
U.S. Plans Combined Arms Training for Ukrainian Soldiers-Dec 15, 2022

“Well, it is WWIII after all.”
Nice try, sensationalist. When other countries commit ground or air or naval forces then you can reintroduce your hyperbole, and at least lend it some credence.
After all our military stuff is shipped to Ukraine then we will be invaded.
Your argument is spot on. That’s why it will be lost on some of the vapid among us.
You’re brain dead.
“You’re brain dead.”
Then be a grown-up, and prove him wrong instead of tossing out meaningless grade school epithets.
It’s not worth conversing with the brain dead. Everyone knows it’s the truth, even the brain dead. There’s nothing to prove.
“It’s cost American taxpayers over $100 billion and we are running low on critical ammo and missiles to defend the nation against a real threat.”
What’s this “we” crap, tovarisch? You’re not an American.
“You and your ilk are insane turds trying to push us into WWIII and nuclear war.”
Who are the insane turds who keep threatening WWIII and nuclear war? They are YOUR guys: Putin; Medvedev; Lavrov; all three of whom are at the very top of the Russian government.
“You and your ilk need to be exterminated from both the Republican party and conservative movement.”
Exterminate? That’s one of your Russian heroes’ favorite words. They lust for it.
“If I call an apple an orange, it is no longer an apple.”
Yeah, it is.
You must be a Democrat, because by your logic — and theirs — if you call a horse a cow, it is a cow; and if you call a woman a man, she is a man.
