How long before Russia just attacks us directly. We are at war with them. I don’t give a S*** what anyone else says.

Russia attacked us directly in Korea and Vietnam. The conflict stayed within Korea and Vietnam.

I doubt the Russians want to expand to expand the conflict outside of Ukraine. They’ve got their hands full as it is. Even if US troops intervened in Ukraine the way the Russians intervened in Korea and Vietnam, the Russians would likely keep the war *inside* Ukraine. The principal lesson of history is that if you encounter difficulties on a given battlefield, it almost never pays to add to the number of opponents you’re fighting.

The USA is giving weapons to a country to defend itself from aggression.

The USA is not at war with Russia.

We are in the Second Cold War now. After World War II, the threat of nuclear war lead to Mutually Assured Destruction doctrine on both sides and forced conflicts to move to low intensity conflicts, bush wars, and smaller scale conflicts. One of the side effects that the number of people killed in war dropped after World War II. During the Cold War in Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, and a dozens of other conflicts, one or the other between the US and Russia would usually back a side with weapons, while the other would send weapons, more material, and more advisors or soldiers.

This is how the Cold War was fought. The collapse of the Soviet Union and Putin's 20 year reign just put this on hold for 30 years. Don't forget that during the Cold War, it was Russia that was the aggressor in starting conflicts.

I wrote this earlier today, but it bears repeating: Russians might be a lot of things…but they aren’t stupid.

No one is invading Russia. No one is sinking her ships. No one is dropping bombs on Moscow or St Petersburg.

Russia has no reason to attack the US. We are not at war with them. They did worse against us in Vietnam and Korea. We supported the Muhajedeen against Russia in the 1980’s.

Russia has more reason to be pissed at us directly for bombing them in Syria. And yet, they did nothing.

Russia knows they would be mauled against the US. It is easier to huff and puff for domestic consumption.
