Former President Donald Trump claimed Wednesday that the government documents the FBI recovered from Mar-a-Lago last summer were just empty folders marked "classified" or "confidential."
"When I was in the Oval Office, or elsewhere, * 'papers' were distributed to groups of people & me, they would often be in a striped paper folder with 'Classified' or 'Confidential' or another word on them," he wrote on his Twitter-esque social media site Truth Social. "When the session was over, they would collect the paper(s), but not the folders, & I saved hundreds of them."
He added: "Remember, these were just ordinary, inexpensive folders with various words printed on them, but they were a 'cool' keepsake." Trump also referred to the FBI as the "Gestapo" and "Trump Hating Marxist Thugs," saying that perhaps they "took some of these empty folders when they Raided Mar-a-Lago, & counted them as a document, which they are not." And he reiterated the false claim that the FBI "planted" evidence at Mar-a-Lago when it executed a search warrant at the property in August — a claim his lawyers have stopped short of repeating in court filings.

Bottom line the president has the authority over these docs, not a vice president that had them in his possession for 6 years, this is criminal and he needs to be prosecuted

Nor I, and I handled Confidential, Secret, Top Secret. TS/EO, and held a TS/SBI, TK1. So yeah, never had any desire to hold onto any of the covers for the folders. I just did my job. God help me if I ever removed something out of the safes or the SI area. Only for delivery to Division Main, with an armed MP.

I recall some NY reporter, sports at the time IIRC, relating a Trump story for the rush of “what’s he like” peices, and how he used a cheap joke about Trump’s hair in an article, and he found he had a message waiting for him on his answering machine.
“Donald Trump here, you may have nice hair but tonight I’m sleeping with a supermodel and you are not, wise guy” or words to that effect.
He said it was total Trump...personal, outrageous and inarguably correct.

Like the non registered guns police officers carry to plant so they won’t be charged with shooting an unarmed suspect.

I believe President Trump is really very frugal. And he may have thought how much fun it would be to give a classified folder to someone as a gag gift or just a gift! I can a see him doing it! The man tells the truth…..you all should know this by now.
