A Japanese woman on death row for killing two men died behind bars when she choked while eating prison chow in her cell.
Miyuki Ueta, 49, a former bar employee, lost consciousness during her meal at the Hiroshima lockup on Saturday afternoon, the Japan Times reported.
Guards tried to remove the food from her throat and performed other rescue measures, but Ueta was declared dead at a hospital less than three hours later, according to the outlet. The prisoner had reportedly been on medication for a variety of ailments and had already collapsed a week earlier while eating.

I often gagged on school food while waiting for exams.
Didn’t grow up in the US listening to CB chatter of truckers saying “Catch ya’ later. Gotta pull in to a choke and puke.”
One of her victim’s sons said:
After hearing about her death, Maruyama’s son said he was “surprised that a death row inmate died in this way,” the Daily Star reported.
“I think it’s been taking too long for her to be executed,” he added.

What food do people choke on most?
Popcorn, chips, pretzel nuggets, and snack foods. Candy (especially hard or sticky candy), cough drops, gum, lollipops, marshmallows, caramels, hard candies, and jelly beans. Whole grapes, raw vegetables, raw peas, fruits, fruits with skins, seeds, carrots, celery, and cherries.

As I remember it, the tuna subs were particularly bad.
Them, and the fried clams.

In Chicago, murders are let go in a couple of years if that long.

Probably the same as being hit on the head by a chunk of toilet ice released from an airliner and then stumbling over the dead body of the true killer of JFK while listening to the 1812 Overture on earbuds in Central Park.
Not very high.
So that’s where Big Mike’s school lunch program ended up.

In 60s HS, we had Friday’s “Tuna Casserole”, which you could smell 2-3 blocks away from the HS campus. It stunk the whole school up, and I wouldn’t go near the cafeteria.

And 4 inch long pieces of meat. A hot dog makes a perfect breath blocker too. Don’t cough with food in your mouth!
