KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — A helicopter crash in a Kyiv suburb Wednesday killed 18 people, including Ukraine’s interior minister and three children, Ukrainian authorities said.
There was no immediate word on whether the crash was an accident or a result of the war with Russia. No fighting has been reported recently in the Kyiv area.
Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskyi, his deputy Yevhen Yenin and State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Yurii Lubkovych were among those killed...

Sadly it’s somewhat the cynical way I now look at global politics and society. It is ethnic and tribal too because that is what connects insiders. No one trusts the Ukrainian deep state leadership any more than trusting our USA institutional deep state. They are likely one and the same too, and always wanting to steal what you have along with your rights, freedoms and opportunities. If you accept it you will have nothing.
It is the average people who pay and in worst case scenario have their lives and homes lost and turned upside down while the schemers and media always get richer. When I was in the Navy, I was watching a guy work on a helicopter rotor on the flight deck.
I was a jet engine mechanic, but looking at that black, greasy looking mass of rods and moving parts on top of that helo, it was disconcerting to me. I only took a ride in a Sea King once to repair once of our birds that had diverted to Sigonella due to a mechanical failure, and didn’t even think about it.
But as I looked, there seemed like too damn many moving parts to be reliable to me.
I asked the mechanic what it was like to work on that versus a jet engine, and we began to talk.
He tapped a part up in that rotor and said grinningly: “We call this the “Jesus Nut”.
Puzzled, I asked why, and he said “Because if something goes wrong with that, you’re going to visit Jesus!”

You talk about how the west basically financed the Maidan Revolution with Soros and others and they just go, “but Russia invaded,” and you say “yeah, I don’t like Putin either.”
The whole point is that we’re going to end up with 250,000 dead total and nothing will change. In fact, Ukraine will become weaker.
I took a lesson to learn how to fly a helicopter. Heh, you paid some sum of money, you did a ground school, then they took you up in a tiny helo and let you fly it. It was fun.
Not really learning how to fly in one lesson, but it was fun. They let you try to hover, and...I couldn’t do it. I am certain the trainer had his hands ready in an instant to retake control with a doofus like me at the helm.
But there was one thing he showed us that the “students” did not get to try:
Autorotation.
Now, I thought autorotation, if you had an engine failure, you could just kind of spin slowly to the ground and do a hard but controlled landing.
LOL. It was NOTHING like that.
I didn’t think it would be that steep coming in.

Well, in that case let me tell you this:
Let’s pray America never gets someone like you as a peace-negotiator one day... in case our country is being invaded by a foreign power in the future!
Because in such a scenario (since you think asking an invader to withdraw its troops is stupid) you would instead just be welcoming the invasion force, telling them: Thank you for invading us, because I’m not stupid!
