The problem with this centrist attitude is that the GOP believes that conservatives will hold their nose and vote for a centrist. That is a miss read of conservatives who are primarily motivated by issues. They are not going to “go along to get along” and they are tired of giving away positions and getting very little in return.
Conservatives want someone who will fight for their issues.

We certainly should give wetbacks dignity. When they are all deported we should save them from the embarrassment and humiliation of being forced marched to the other side of the border. Send them in buses. It will save time, and I am certain CamelToe Harris would agree. She loves buses.

Not one word about the good of the country as a whole, but all tribalism. Well these racial and ethnic groups who are always pushing their own personal agenda are driving me to look out for white people first. When the other groups decide to adopt a less sectarian viewpoint, I may reconsider.
