The Biden administration is fighting to maintain a federal mask mandate for air travel and other methods of transportation even after President Biden said months ago the pandemic is "over," and despite calls from travel associations to end mask mandates.
The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals will hear arguments on Tuesday from the Biden Justice Department on behalf of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to reinstate a mask mandate for air travel, after a federal judge in Florida struck down the mandate last April.
"The Department continues to believe that the order requiring masking in the transportation corridor is a valid exercise of the authority Congress has given CDC to protect the public health. That is an important authority the Department will continue to work to preserve," DOJ said in a statement at the time of the ruling.

"The Biden administration is trying to paper over an illegal, sweeping mandate on Americans that is full of massive legal and scientific holes," HFDF founder and President Leslie Manookian said in a press statement. "That a federal agency should be able to just usurp the power of Congress, and violate fundamental individual rights is not only at odds with the law – it defies basic common sense."

Reminding the public that government’s boot is still firmly upon the neck of the American people.
Over for letting invasion escalate further. Not over for Airplanes. Also mandating updated vax card for flights from Israel to America. Incoherence, thy name is Brandon.
Awful times.
Noticed the NY school systems will now mandate masks. They had many cases of sick days for teachers last semester. Always looking out for those teachers.
Dennis Prager today said: “Don’t let anyone use the word pandemic to you. Correct them that it was a lockdown.”
Also “When someone votes Democrat they vote for pathology. Always.”
By the way, WEF and their US members (including all blue cities) want you to only be taking one single short haul flight per year as of 2030.
They fight for their desire to inflict future tyranny!
They got rid of it a year ago. How would they justify bringing it back?
I thought they got rid of masking on planes?
IIRC, Philly mandated masks on k-12 for “just” 2 weeks after the Christmas break...with the option to extend of needed buried in the policy. Not sure what happened with that. Some city in southern NJ did as well.
I know Boston was considering the same, but never did.
I don’t doubt it will spread to NY, probably not the state level but some schools and citys will do it.
Not about the mandate, it’s about the ability of the federal government to mandate masks in the future. If the court finding striking down the mandate is allowed to stand, the feds will not be able to impose the mandate in the future.
They did in April 2022. All of a sudden they want to appeal it.
I heard it wrong. Sorry.
If the courts uphold this power, the federal government can enact any rules it deems necessary to protect the health of citizens...not just masks.
At this point in time the crisis has been over for a long time. The continued court cases are all about what powers do elected officials have to enforce mandates.
Why would the Justice department even have the authority?
Is a mask necessary in the operating theatre?

The results of the relatively simple trial reported
here could easily be repeated and it would
be interesting to see whether comparable results
are obtained in emergency, orthopaedic, or
other general surgical theatres. The finding that
there was an appreciable fall in the wound infection
rate when masks were not worn certainly
warrants further investigation. This trial was
designed only to see whether wound infection increased,
as had been predicted, when masks were
not worn. It did not. The conclusion is that
the wearing of a mask has very little relevance
to the wellbeing of patients undergoing routine
general surgery and it is a standard practice
that could be abandoned.
DOJ has nothing to do with it.
