What should you wear to work if you’re nonbinary?

What should you wear to work if you’re nonbinary?

It may not be the most pressing question that gender-nonconforming people face on the job, but with approximately 1.2 million LGBTQ+ Americans identifying as nonbinary, employers and employees alike are exploring what professional attire can look like.

“I think people treat me with more dignity when I dress more masculinely, but people are way nicer to me when I dress more femininely,” said El Layla Johnson, 33, a former restaurant server who is now a therapist.

For Johnson, getting dressed for work has been a struggle since adolescence.

“I just feel like there’s a manual or rule book that people receive and that my copy got lost in the mail,” Johnson said.

Johnson recalled regularly crying while getting dressed for work at an upscale restaurant in Seattle. It wasn’t just that they found the restaurant’s dress code to be ugly. Johnson had a hard time finding clothes that fit at all.

I opened an email from Family Search and found that the late Igor, my ex-husband, was also my 9th cousin. My mother’s grandmother was a descendant of this family, and evidently, that’s where the tie is.

I thought I was going to laugh myself silly over that!

Who says genealogy is fun?

Indeed! According to the late Igor, there were four brothers who came here from Scotland and he was of one branch. From what I know of where they settled, the great-grandmother is indeed, part of that same family of brothers.

I’ll have to search those connections on a day when my brain isn’t so fogged up with other things, but it’s still quite interesting. To me, at least!

In case anyone didn’t think they are coming for our gas cooking appliances ...

Of course, this isn’t a government policy site. This is a media government-enablement site.

Yeah. Tell that to the folks in remote sites that depend on propane, as well as those who own RVs. I’m sure the RVs will be lumped into the ban, whether they actually fit the parameters or not.

I just saw this gem:

I met a magical fairy yesterday who said she would grant me one wish.

“I wish to live forever,” I said.

“Sorry,” said the fairy, “I’m not allowed to grant that particular wish.”

“FIne,” I said, “then I want to die the day after COngress is filled with honest, hard-working, bipartisan men and women who act only in the people’s best interests!”

“You crafty bastard,” she replied.

I can always tell when it’s pure propaganda (BS) when they speak in glowing terms with testimonials to back up their claims. As always, my first inclination is to ask, “How much did she (he/they) get paid for that”

Duck eggs are weird, the shell breaks off of the membrane without puncturing it, I had to carefully slit it with a knife to get the contents out without breaking the yoke. Said yoke stands up in the pan and stares at you.

For the first time in 45 years I weigh less than 230 lbs, so it’s only by half a pound, but I’ll take it!

They’re only giving us 14 days worth of mom’s Rxs with each refill.

Is this different from before she went into rehab the last time?

Excellent! Even half a pound is incentive!!

ALL yolks stare at you from the pan until you cover them with something.

Yes, Express Scrips would give us 90 day supplies, home hospice 14 days.

My goal is to get below 220, that was the tipping point, once I worked up to 220, it took on a life of its own.

All yolks look at you. Hen’s eggs just passively lay there, duck egg yolks stand up and glare at you!

OK. Things changed then with home hospice. Sorry about that.
:o|

Yes, I know the goal-setting ordeal when it comes to weight loss. When you visited all those years ago, I was at the top of my weight gain, which was 235. By the time I had been in Hurricane a year, I had dropped to 180. My current goal is another 20 pounds lower, mostly because of my back. With four slipped disks, every step is painful. The less weight I have to pack around, the better off I will be!

Yes, you’re right about the eggs staring at you! A good reason why I don’t eat them!

Yeah. Hospice won’t cover any medication for the condition that put the patient into hospice.

Ducks are weird, so I guess it makes sense their eggs are.

Congratulations on the half a pound. Don’t hunt it down.

Tell them your mom is still strong and will definitely live for a month at a time (or whatever you’re looking for). Say you’d rather not have to complain of ageism.

Unnngh, which is also how my cold feels. I think I’ll go back to bed. I was hoping to get an email about the schedule for one of my church groups, but I didn’t. Maybe it will be there in an hour or two.
