“reliable research” is becoming an oxymoron.
What seems to matter is “reliable remuneration”.
I watched a news article last night about a study done on those car dashboard screens that are all the rage now days.
They determined they’re dangerously distracting to the vehicle driver.
Duh.
Where can I get some of that free study money?

I watched part of a video last night wherein a formerly transitioned woman (woman lived with testosterone as a man for 4.5 years) explained that a well-known trans (’Buck Angel’, another woman living as a man) became severely ill because after 5 years on Testosterone, that woman’s ‘uterus and cervix ‘fused’ and atrophied and became infected.
What’s more, this is a KNOWN potential side-effect that they don’t tell the kids about when handing out hormones. The person telling this story began to experience cramps after exercising and was told that some people have to have a hysterectomy at the 5 year mark to avoid infection.
Not only had she not heard that before, but no medical followup by her treating physicians was initiated on their part - they don’t reach out to patients and tell them, “It’s time for your checkup to see if you need a hysterectomy”.

This is a thorough look at something purported as “science” and used to make arguments with a profound impact on peoples health care - especially those that cannot really make an informed consent (they are under age).
Basically it boils down to this: when you have a bunch of BS studies but they fit the whims of the time, they will be held up and used as arguments, with no one really questioning them to much. That can be found elsewhere as well: climate change, Covid, ozone hole...
Folks want that “science” seal of approval on their sociopolitical moment. That’s what it’s really all about. We want to make it appear as if one course of action or way of thinking about things is the empirical and logical based answer and if we have some study which goes along with that idea it quickly becomes the tool for such.
Science et al has become infected with what can best be described as charlatans in white lab coats and fancy titles but who do NOT practice it:

As you move away from the hard sciences and get into the social and environmental so called sciences, things get very bad real quick. There is more quackery than science in those fields.
I’ve hated those screens from day one.
Gender dysphoria until recently was a rare mental health condition. Now despite the lack of any real scientific studies it has become a pandemic with every little boy who plays with his sisters dolls or little girl who likes toy trucks being whisked off by loony parents to gender bending clinics where every kid who walks in the door is diagnosed as have gender dysphoria and a candidate for puberty blockers, hormone treatments and gender mutilating surgery.
The gender bending lunacy has gotten so insane that a hulking 6’+ male who competed as male on his college swim team with mediocre times little a year before pops some hormone pills, grows his hair long, changes his name and now competes as a female breaking collegiate records. Despite his genitals obviously bulging out of his female swimsuit he is called she and lauded as a great female athlete. Even more egregious are young teen females being forced to share locker rooms with biological males who simply have decided they are female with no pretense of hormones or surgery. Our society has become gender insane.
The authors assert that had the Dutch studies been published today for the first time, the "innovative practice" of using hormones and surgery to gender-transition children and young adults would never have been permitted to enter general medical settings due to the very low quality of the research, and problematic outcomes experienced by several of the young people. Unfortunately, since the publication of the final Dutch study in 2014, the practice of youth gender transitions underwent what's known as “runaway diffusion”— a problematic but not uncommon phenomenon whereby the medical community mistakes a small innovative experiment as a proven practice, and a potentially nonbeneficial or harmful practice “escapes the lab,” rapidly spreading to general practice settings.
A study of only 35 kids, in which 28 dropped out, is not much of a study at all. And to base an entire medical schemata on that is worse than merely criminal.
Good lord! I know one detransitioner (person who used to think she was transgender, and quit) is suing her doctors for amputating her breasts and giving her testosterone, which caused many health problems. Why aren’t more? I think they have to sign permission slip that says they know they’re taking experimental drugs, which cause side effects.

The swimmer pretending to be a woman ranked like 560 when he was on the men’s team. #1 as a woman swimmer. International Swimming Federation, FINA, now doesn’t allow pretend sexes or genders, Newspeak for pretend sex, to compete against the sex they’re pretending to be.
Escapes the lab? I would think doctors practicing “escaped the lab” medicine should have to pay a patient millions for malpractice.
My question for years now has been that if doctors want to sxperiement with sex hormones on gender-confused individuals, perhaps they should start with thorough clinical blood and/or tissue studies of whether their birth-sex hormones are adequate, and also their major gland secretions such as thyroid hormones, etc.
They’re going about it backwards. They should be looking for any deficiencies or imbalances from their birth sex. Except that they have to keep their mouths shut about what they are looking for, so that they won’t be charged with “conversion therapy” from the delusional gender back to the original sex.
