In November, members of the Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church derailed plans by three churches to break away from the denomination, refusing to ratify disaffiliation agreements backed by super-majorities in each congregation.
Two of the three -- Jonesboro First United Methodist and Searcy First United Methodist -- have filed suit in an effort to obtain what the conference's Nov. 19 special session withheld.
Members of a third, Cabot United Methodist Church, opted instead to walk away from their longtime house of worship and start over.
On Christmas, the congregation's longtime pastor, Stephen Dickinson, worshipped for a final time at the church on South Pine Street. One week later, Dickinson and most of the leadership launched a new congregation, Cabot Methodist Church, gathering to worship at the Cabot Freshman Academy.

My parents dragged me to UMC because it matched their progressive marxist beliefs. And what do you know. The “pastor” there performed one of the first gaystapo marriages of the fake church.
I don’t go to any church. I trust none of them.
I have looked at some of my local churches sermons on their websites. There was nothing about sin. Nothing about preparing for the end.
At least us orthodox people know who owns the building.
Wokism at its divisive finest. Just walk away and attempt to get away from the devil.
General Conference, which also reaffirmed its ban on same-sex marriages and the ordination of "self-avowed, practicing homosexuals."
so the congregation including the pastor left to start a church that includes everyone..
so its not the UMC that left The bible behind, its the people who left this church wanting to start their own pagan religion. .
Satan has left the building.
Like many things, the ol’ Church just isn’t what it used to be.
Are you Methodist?
And the music is DEAFENING!!!
I get more spirituality at my yoga class.
I can’t keep the current and countercurrents straight. Here is my understanding. For years the UMC leadership has been more liberal than most congregants. However, the church has grown in Africa and African Methodists are more both more numerous and more conservative. It seems like the church is set to split in two world wide, with individual American churches having to choose with whom to affiliate.
Not too long ago I saw a video clip of a female Bishop who was married to a woman. That epitomizes my view of the UMC leadership in America. Is that no longer allowed?
African delegates are the only reason gay marriage is still not allowed.
They want to separate us so they can have openly gay pastors and preform gay marriage.
Methodists are divided.
The devil is the divider.
Are you a Methodist?
I left after years of devotion.
An I a Satanist?
Keep in mind that Church isn’t about you

the people that left this church were lgbqtndcfwh friendly.
Cabot parishioners must have been really cheesed.
You’re in the same boat that I am. I went on a church-visiting spree about a year ago. Visited every church within an hour’s drive. I found the same milquetoast, inoffensive platitudes being preached at all of them, dumbed down even more to placate anyone possibly visiting. Mom told me to settle on one and get connected. Why?
You have no idea what the situation is. A denomination’s theology is not what is written in their official “Book of Discipline,” but what they allow to occur with impunity.
The UMC has been allowing open sodomy on the Altar. There’s is the religion of Sodom. These congregations, if they still retain any semblance of biblical Christianity, are obligated to leave.
It’s maddening that the more conservative traditionalists won the vote to keep homosexual behavior officially unacceptable in the UMC, but American churches, which are overwhelmingly liberal and homo-affirming, just flout the official established theology and rules and are never called out on it or held accountable for offenses. This frustration is not helped by the fact that even if the Worldwide UMC required these offending congregations to leave, they’d fly under the radar under the same lax enforcement mechanisms that allowed them to do so for decades. They would remain a latent infection in the UMC body, and so the traditionalists found no other option than to leave.
Then you’re not looking in the right places bc lots of churches still preach against sin
You’d think the local UMC here was a gay bar rump ranger club with all their pride flags flying in fron of the church.
As am not maybe you can shed light on what seems contradictory here as, according to the other poster the UMC has specifically denied the main tenants of protestant wokeism. Real questions not the usual snark
