A handful of Republican lawmakers is set to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, next week despite opposition to the organization from some GOP leaders and conservative activists.

Several House Republicans are set to attend the influential global confab as part of an official U.S. delegation, including Darrell Issa of California, Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin and Maria Elvira Salazar of Florida. Another Republican, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, is also set to attend the event outside the official U.S. delegation.

The swanky conference in the Swiss Alps, however, regularly draws rebukes from Republicans for being little more than where the rich and powerful make deals and promote globalism.

“All these elites come in for the World Economic Forum and basically their vision is they run everything and everybody else is just a serf,” said Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican. “They’re going after energy. … It’s really weakening Western society, Western values.”

"Dear Congressman Issa, as a voting member of the 48th District, I was disappointed to read that you will be attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland next week as part of a U.S. delegation. The WEF is a conglomeration of globalist cranks who despise America; who wish to see everyone but themselves living in cubicles, owning nothing, and subsisting on a diet of bugs; and who are led by Klaus Schwab, a Bond villain straight from central casting. I ask you to reconsider this trip. Apart from being a waste of taxpayer dollars, it is unseemly for a conservative Republican to be overseas rubbing elbows with such a Socialist claque. The next time someone says that Herschel Walker lost last year's Senate race because he was a poor candidate, the fact that Governor Kemp is attending Davos is evidence that he is a favored member of the Deep State. Why was Walker the only GOP candidate to have lost a statewide race in Georgia? He was a Trump supporter. The Democrats needed a 51 vote majority to park the Federal courts with radicals. Kemp and Ratzenberger were ok with that. Stacey Abrams took a dive, for which she will be suitability rewarded.
