Jim Jordan's first investigation as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee will examine President Biden's "mishandling" of classified documents and the Justice Department's investigation.
The investigation led by Jordan, R-Ohio, comes one day after Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special counsel to examine the matter, former U.S. attorney Robert Hur. The Justice Department escalated it to a special counsel investigation from a mere review Thursday after a second stash of classified documents was found inside the garage of Biden's Wilmington, Delaware, home. The first documents were found inside the Washington, D.C., offices of the Penn Biden Center think tank.
"We are conducting oversight of the Justice Department’s actions with respect to former Vice President Biden’s mishandling of classified documents, including the apparently unauthorized possession of classified material at a Washington, D.C., private office and in the garage of his Wilmington, Delaware, residence," Jordan and Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., wrote in a letter sent Friday to Garland.

He needs to figure out how to keep Garland from stonewalling the House investigation because that is what they do. Perhaps subpoena them on a weekly basis.
Jordan is going to start at the beginning, trying to follow chain-of-custody of documents beginning with Biden's initial request for the documents for his "memoirs."
The DoJ is going to start from now and go backwards, beginning with the premise that it was all "inadvertent" and then create the evidence that is needed to reach that conclusion.
The question is who will reach their end goal first?

Biden Center Under Investigation for Illegal Donations From China

If the label says “Biden,” it was definitely influenced by China. – John Solomon at JustTheNews.com is reporting that The National Legal and Policy Center has asked the U.S. Department of Education to investigate its findings that the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) has over the past several years accepted more than $22 million in anonymous China-originated donations to its Biden Center and failed to properly disclose the contributions.
From Solomon’s report: The complaint, filed by the National Legal and Policy Center, says that over the past three years, the university has (admitted to accepting around) $22 million in anonymous funding from Chinese sources. That’s out of a total of more than $70 million from Chinese donors during that time, the NLPC said.
Those significant funds, including the anonymous amounts, rolled in after the Biden Center was announced in early 2017 and launched in February 2018. The center is located in downtown Washington, D.C. Federal records show that the University of Pennsylvania has received significant donations from Communist China since the opening of the Biden Center.
One 2018 donation alone totals $14.5 million; it is listed as “anonymous” in federal records. The NLPC alleges the university may have violated federal law in accepting those anonymous monetary donations from Communist China. The Higher Education Act mandates schools report the national origins of any donations above $250,000 although not necessarily the individual names of donors themselves. [End]
This serves as just one more reminder that Biden, his son (and his brother) have long been in the pockets of Communist Chinese interests. The stark reality facing our country today is thatall of the gains President Donald Trump has made through the sheer force of his will in terms of U.S./China relations and trade policy will be immediately reversed the day after Biden assumes office.

Nothing ever comes of congressional investigations. It’s time to stop the nonsense and start filing charges. The FBI has had over 2 years to investigate Hunter Biden and his laptop. I’m tired of hearing about it. I’m tired of actual action not taking place.
The Corrupt DOJ Got ahead of him. They will scoop up all of the evidence and then claim congress can’t have it because of an ongoing investigation. It would be funny if it were not so disgusting.

One of those helping to create the Rules package, IIRC Massie, mentioned this specifically and said the special committees were to be given enough authority so that DOJ tactic couldn’t so block them. Jim Jordan, etc. are certainly familiar with the tactic and likely understand it better than we do. Whether what they’ve created will work to overcome it remains to be seen. BrIng popcorn.
Yes it’s true that Congress can’t prosecute and that Congressional investigations can’t lead directly to prosecution. But there have been some that have been consequential, although you have to go back a ways to find them. Although nowadays they’re usually done to sweep a problem under the rug or to bolster false narratives, they can sometimes have a strong impact on public opinion. The televised Watergate investigations where big news at the time and played a part in precipitating Nixon’s resignation. If this one’s done properly, this one has the potential to have a similar effect.
I hope so.
