A woman has successfully appealed against a court order to contribute S$1,500 [$1,137.25USD]for the monthly maintenance of her children post-divorce, after suffering an adverse reaction to a COVID-19 vaccine that left her wheelchair-bound and jobless.
The woman and her husband divorced in 2016. The man then relocated to the United States in 2022, taking their two children aged 16 and 18 with him.
The woman, however, had suffered a severe adverse reaction to her second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in March 2021, according to a High Court judgment released on Friday (Jan 13). She was hospitalised for 151 days from March to October 2021, and was diagnosed with Involuntary Movement Disorder - leaving her unable to resume her job as a nurse at Singapore General Hospital (SGH). In his decision granting the woman's appeal, Justice Choo Han Teck noted that the woman's medical condition did not ease after her hospitalisation.

Interesting but I think the salient point is that the vax crippled her.
Well that’s one way to skip out on payments
If I am understanding the poorly told story, the couple’s children are now 17 and 18 y/o. Why would there be any further maintenance of their ‘children’ at all, once the youngest becomes 18? They are grown, now. The Dad will have to find some other way to improve his personal life style.
How could any judge be aware of this poor woman’s condition, then say that she must keep on paying, when she can’t even stand up independantly or speak properly? It’s like early onset Parkinsons!
What a low skunk of an ex-husband to go after her like this.
These adult chidren may not be able to go to college, at least not now. Perhaps they can try for some special scholarhsip. Or just get a damn job locally, and stop complaining about what Mommy won’t do for you anymore.
16 and 18.
You are right, this article should be listed as misinformation.
Years ago a court forced a guy to pay for his daughters post-graduate degree. I think she was 26.
Forget which state, but it was one of the northeastern liberal hellholes.
We may be thinking of the same situation. I recalll maybe 15 or more years back, when I watched more TV, there was a young college girl who sued both her parents for refusing to pay for her college. It was national news for a couple of weeks.
She was fairly nice looking, but always wore a snarl.
A precursor to Sandra Fluke; standard bearer to a selfish cause.
“Child maintenance”?
Is that like checking the oil and changing as needed?
Can the vax maker be asked to pay for the maintenance?
