Thirty minutes sounds generous.
Isn’t that GS’s biggest payout?
Don’t people bust their butts for the bonus there specifically?
Speaking of IT guys:
Our IT guy said they the found the problem with the G: drive. The server it was on did not have enough capacity for the volume on G:
That’s like basic pc knowledge right? Keep an eye on your back up drive so it can hold all the data you try to back up? Not a keeper this one for sure!
Yes, I’ve seen that normalcy bias in companies, too. The e-staff has taken steps to get costs under control and improve revenues, but things aren’t working. The signs are there if you are willing to look and pay attention. The sharp people see those early warning signs and are the first to leave.
Ran into a guy who worked for the same $#*+hole outfit that I used to work for . . . in 2016, they made up a flimsy excuse to fire me so they could steal about $10,000 worth of accumulated vacation and sick time. They even contested my unemployment claim to make it look good. I had to hire a lawyer to get a lousy $580 per week in unemployment.
Word gets around like the Johnny Cash song "That Old Wheel". Some months ago, my wife and I ran into a former co-worker at a restaurant. He told me they were having trouble finding and keeping anyone. When he decided it was time to leave, he made sure all his vacation was used up and e-mailed them that he was done the first day he decided not to show up. They had to direct deposit his pay due according to the law even though he gave them zero notice.
I chuckled at his description of how they huffed and puffed and tried to convince him to come back for a couple of weeks until they filled the position. He told them to go p*$$ up a rope and reminded them of how they fired loyal employees like me.
For the past six months or so, I’ve been saying that when the major lay-offs start, it is going to hit middle-management the worst. HR departments are going to be in a dilemma. They can’t fire the affirmative-action, diversity hires or they face major EEO investigations and law suits, along with bad PR. They can’t fire those that actually do the work, or they risk losing money due to lack of production. What to do? What to do?
There is no correct answer since they will be screwed either way.
And elsewhere it is reported that that have thousands of H1B and other visa workers. Want to bet that none of these workers were being terminated or laid off? By one report, in 2022 there were 2,400 H1B if I recall correctly.
How much did Lyn’ Ted earn from them last year, getting paid to speak at their offices or events? I don’t recall if he has continued doing that in recent years, but if he has, that should be considered employment since it is repeated, even if periodic (bribery or pay-offs).
Right. That’s what I have always said.
Leftists are used to lay-offs only affecting the “little people”. It apparently hurts more when it happens to them.
“Don’t axe me what’s going on.”
He was laid off, and got a big severance deal that he wouldn’t have gotten if he had left on his own a week earlier. Then he started work the next day at a competitor’s office. LMAO.
It has nothing to do with capitalism and everything to do with who is actually running the company. Almost everyone at Goldman will get severances starting about 2 weeks after they are frogmarched out like criminals.
The most un-environmental are the ones talking about the environment.
The most immoral are the ones talking about ethics.
The most greedy are the ones telling you that you need to pay more of your fair share.
Just like I want musicians to shut their pie hole about politics and sing; so do I want businesses to offer me the best product at the lowest cost.
Today every firm wants to peddle off their product by slapping 100 various socio-economic-political labels on their junk but offer: poor customer service, poor warranties, mediocre performance (specs and quality), at a high price.
What ever happened to getting the most for the buck?
You wish ... until proven otherwise, I assume it's a bad day for the White, straight, Christian men.
Goldman S@cks for some folks today.
A recovery is when Jimmy Carter Gropin' F. Joe Biden loses his!
Moral of the story, I want to choose my own destiny. The people that stayed til the end didn't even get their last two weeks pay and no bonus was paid out. They got screwed. At the same time between my walking out and starting my new job 9/11 happened and I already had a job which at that time everything froze so those people were really screwed.
“..A recovery is when Jimmy Carter Gropin’ F. Joe Biden loses his!...”
^THIS^
The sooner, the better.....
