Former President Donald Trump still wields some power in public opinion polls.
“Just over a year out from the Republican Party’s first presidential nominating contest, Trump remains the front-runner in a hypothetical crowded field, backed by 46% of potential Republican primary voters. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is expected to launch a campaign later this year, is backed by 33% of the potential GOP electorate,” reports Eli Yokley, a Morning Consult analyst.
“No. 45’s buzz is improving, but his favorability is not: Potential Republican primary voters have been increasingly likely over the past month to say they’ve heard something positive about Trump, though more still say the opposite. However, Trump continues to see his favorability rating among the GOP base worsen as Republican voters warm to DeSantis,” Mr. Yokley said.

My respect for polling is nearing my level of respect for astrology...
GO TRUMP GO
• 46% of potential Republican primary voters say they would vote for former President Donald Trump in the 2024 Republican primary or caucus if it were held in their state today.Trash poll given the language "potential Republican primary voters". Weasel words to cover that these aren't "likely" voters.
• 33% would vote for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, 9% would pick former Vice President Mike Pence, 3% now-former Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming.
DeSantis being at 33% was surprisingly high for me. Usually he’s hovering in the low teens.
It will be interesting to see when the Florida state legislature meets in March if the first thing on the agenda is a bill to allow governor DeSantis to run for president and remain governor in case he loses. Right now the law says he has to resign as governor if he decides to run. So he has a decision to make. But if he gets that legislature to change the law for him it’s probably a no brained. He’s got reportedly $200 million to start with.
That $200 million comes from a whole lot of people who will OWN HIM he will immediately be part of the deep state!!
Americans are ignorant. Polls are worse.
DeSantis is “unblemished” for now. People see him as they want to see him. Not saying he won’t be the guy, but it’s way early.
“ DeSantis being at 33% was surprisingly high for me.”
Keep in mind msm polls will be heavily biased toward DeSantis because though they hate DeSantis too, it pales in comparison to the loathing they have for Trump. DS is the only viable Trump slayer in their eyes so they will bias their polls to favor him
The article itself seems to contradict the title.
Trump has said he has ammunition against DeSantis and will unload if it comes to that. I hope for both their sakes DeSantis doesn’t run. Knowing Trump he will make it as ugly as necessary to defeat his opponents.
Unblemished? The guy who praised the Jan6 committee and wanted the protesters thrown in jail?
DeSantis only said those guilty of crimes should be punished.
Do you disagree with that?
And what’s the proof the J6 prisoners are innocent? Trump hasn’t stuck his neck out for them, at all, which could indicate they’re all guilty, and he just doesn’t want to bring any further attention to them, since the “rally” was all his idea.
One year from now, I expect Gov. Youngkin to be trending in conversations, people deciding to give him a closer look.
Youngkin is a joke. Compared to Trump all the other GOPE types look light weight fake dime store politicians.
I think it comes from a few people who are a big part of the deep state and Chinese influencers and who want to control Ron DeSantis or whoever else they can. I do think it will be interesting to watch Ron DeSantis and his bid to get that state legislature to vote for his plan to run for president and keep his job at the same time.
I am a Florida resident and I’d rather he just stay here and wait his turn but I think he’s getting pressure and maybe his ego is huge too I don’t know.
Youngkin has some serious work to do with the Fairfax County schools. Va education systems are still cancerous. Let’s see how it turns out.
