The insinuation is that the industry may not be too afraid to cast a non-white actor in a villainous role, lest it face immediate backlash. “And that’s just as limiting as anything else…I want to play more bad guys.”
Kumail Nanjiani cited a prime example: his fellow MCU star Sebastian Stan. “He does these big Marvel movies, and then he’ll play a psychopath. I was told that’s going to be hard because people don’t want to cast non-white people as bad guys.”

Old shows may be censored or just eliminated in a dystopian future.

Here’s another black villain I just remembered, Wesley Snipes as Simon Phoenix in “Demolition Man”.
And if there is more than one old white guy, the more religious one did it.

I own a copy of “The Wire”—the black criminals are everywhere in that show—from “corner boys” to State Senators—gotta get banned or canceled sooner or later.
That would probably not happen now. Virtually all villains are backwoods white males... usually portrayed as having negative opinions of gays and non whites... think the father in ‘American Beauty..’
The MCU has cast some minorities as villains but the only ones I can think of are in the minority-dominated properties: Black Panther, Falcon and Winter Soldier, and Luke Cage. And even then, in 2 out of the 3 they tried to make the minority villain so sympathetic that it just ruined the story.
I guess Canada requires diversity in commercials. The one commercial that is exclusively white are the ones promoting assisted suicide.

LOL. In the current authoritarian Woke environment, what is a poor white producer to do? Cast a person of color in a villain role, you are stereotyping. Don’t cast a person of color in a villain role, you are limiting. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. LOL
