Transition Plans In Place To Move Venezuelan Asylum Seekers To Chicago By Month’s End

Plans are in place to move Venezuelan asylum seekers, some sent from the Texas border to Chicago then to hotels in Des Plaines and Elk Grove, to a “congregant setting” in Chicago by the end of this month.

State Sen. Laura Murphy (D-28th) of Des Plaines, the deputy state senate majority leader, representing parts of both Elk Grove Village and Des Plaines, said she attended a meeting late Tuesday with heads of the Illinois Dept. of Homeland Security, Illinois Dept. of Human Services, deputy governor, members of the Latino Caucus of the Illinois General Assembly, and other “interested parties” to discuss plans for longer-term housing for the Venezuelan asylum seekers.

Murphy said the plan discussed Tuesday is to move the Venezuelans to a former K-Mart, which would be converted to housing, in Chicago’s 13th Ward on the southwest side of the city.

Media reports quoted a letter to Chicago officials, signed by Alicia Tate-Nadeau, the director of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, and Grace Hou, secretary of the Illinois Department of Human Services, saying Illinois spent more than $120 million providing shelter and services to 3,700 people. The report also quoted that letter saying the state agencies, “have exhausted all available fiscal resources for the operation of the asylum seeker mission.”

One report says Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot was looking for additional funds to be appropriated by the state to help Chicago provide resources to the migrants.

State Rep. Marty Moylan (D-55th) said suburban communities, such as Des Plaines, whose schools have been expanding to educate young asylum seekers, also need money.

“We think the state should pay the schools,” Moylan said. Moylan said he spoke with officials in Gov. JB Pritzker’s office, asking that new money be put in the state budget.

Venezuela formerly possessed a thriving petroleum based economy that was destroyed by Hugo Chaves and Marxist policies. Now their refugees want to relocate to the USA that formerly had a prosperous economy which is being destroyed by Marxist policies and anti-energy environmentalist kooks.

Chicago!? If they’re moved to the South Side, they might just flee back to Venezuela.

Why should I have to pay taxes to reside in my own house that go to the care and schooling of all these foreigners children? What a messed up country. Wish I were born in Finland or Hungary.

Illinois spent more than $120 million providing shelter and services to 3,700 people

That's $32,000+ per person, $100,000+ per family of 3. That's only the state money.

As soon as they hopped the border into the profligate arms of Mayorka's DHS, I'm sure they also got enrolled to receive federal taxpayer fund$ (funneled through NGOs?). To boot, they each got a few thousand dollars of US taxpayer money channeled through the UN while they're traversing Mexico.

Where do US asylum seekers who are looking for a place to escape the socialist regime in the US go?
