True that. But most states will punish disproportional force, aka using more force than is needed.
That’s probably a good idea when the person be scrutinized is a highly-trained police officer. But much leeway should be given when the person is an untrained and under stress civilian.
agree
You shoot until the threat is down. And a .45 will insure the threat is neutralized. Learned that years ago in CCW class from state troopers. I don’t care how good you are at the range. In real life violence everything goes out the window. And your hand will be shaking.
As an older person do you really think I’m going to not make sure the threat is finished?? I’m not going up against some 6’ crazy guy without a weapon. I ain’t Rambo and neither are most people. And sometimes a 9MM will just piss off a hopped up or bulky clothes wearing perp.
Define needed.
He could have buddies outside in a getaway car.
Here in Washington State that is written in the law - the police have a higher standard on limitations of force than regular people.
But it is all in terms of “reasonable force”. Was the first shot “reasonable” in the self-defense of yourself or others. Was the 2nd and 3rd shot reasonable? All the way to the last shot.
