Republicans in the House of Representatives will vote on a bill that would abolish the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), eliminate the national income tax, and replace it with a national consumption tax. Fox News Digital has learned that the House will be voting on Georgia Republican Rep. Buddy Carter's reintroduced Fair Tax Act that aims to reel in the IRS and remove the national income tax, as well as other taxes, and replace them with a single consumption tax. The vote on the bill was made as part of the deal between House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and members of the House Freedom Caucus and was pushed forward in his quest for the gavel...

Most people probably have forgotten, even though we should always keep their proven phoniness at the forefront of our minds. Thanks for the reminder.
I have problems with the “Fair Tax”.
Why not just a simple retail sales tax?
You’re welcome :)
It won’t; makes too much sense.
Perfect!
Do you think the Left cares one whit about what is in the “Fair Tax” bill? If they can summarily ignore the Constitution, they will certainly override whatever’s in the “Fair Tax” bill.
Yup. This session of congress will be filled with meaningless legislation from the house that will be ignored by the Senate.
So any constituent pleasing impossibility is a safe vote.
“Republicans - including conservative Republicans - in Congress have gotten a deservedly bad rap for being form and show over substance.”
That’s because they vote for stuff (repeal obamacare eg) when they know it cannot pass and when they have the power to repeal it, it’s the silence of the lambs.
I don’t think so. The Fair Tax is a good idea and I am happy it is finally getting a vote. Hopefully it won’t be the last time.
The power to tax income is due to the 16TH amendment. The last time I looked at it, the Fait Tax plan is to repeal it before the Fair Tax can be implemented. If repeal fails, the Fair tax is not implemented.
Pure ineffective showmanship.
Even if passed, the Senate will do no such thing, and even if it passes an identical bill, Grampa Hair-Sniffer will veto it and there won’t even be an override vote.
How about spending time on stuff that matters, and can also be accomplished? How about investigating the FBI for interference in elections? How about investigate various mechanisms o voter fraud? How about figuring out how to not spend as much money on utter crap that just puts us further into debt? How about passing a bill to streamline the building of nuke plants en masse?
Yeah, I know...[crickets].
Exactly. It'll go nowhere. Empty virtue signaling.
Much like the assault weapon bans that Democrats introduce when there is no hope of passing one.
"We tried!"
Won’t even get to Brandon’s desk, as the Senate will never even bring it up for a vote, let alone pass it. But there’ll be a lot of high-toned speeches, which will be part of the Congressional Record.
Mitch, The Deep State Bitch, will kill it in committee. No vote.
“Why not just a simple retail sales tax?”
Isn’t that a consumption tax?
Yup. As I thought, you got nothing to say about taxation.
Stop wasting FR bandwidth.
Thanks for pointing that out. I could be wrong but is it not just another version of a VAT?
