An average of national surveys found about 2 million instances of defensive use of guns occur per year

Imagine the outcome if these folks hadn’t used deadly force against criminal attacks:
1. Texas homeowner defends children by fatally shooting intruder twice in the chest
2. New Orleans mom, an Iraq war veteran, defends 2-year-old child with gun
3. Armed Florida man uses gun to stop vicious attack on pregnant woman
4. Arizona employee stops shooter in parking lot of Amazon facility
5. ‘Tactically sound’ armed ‘good Samaritan’ puts stops to Indiana mall mass shooting
Fact: According to DOJ crime statistics, guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year or 6,849 every day. Most often, the gun is never fired and no blood (including the criminal’s) is shed.

TY! Title from the source could be more clear by including “Five Instances Where.. “.
Dr. John Lott has a newsletter I would encourage everyone to subscribe to.

One thought to consider…
When seconds count, law enforcement is 77 minutes away.
I wasn’t criticizing anything. I was just supplementing with GunFacts.info. It’s a good resource to know about.
5 in 2022? Talk about minimizing armed self defense.
I suspect the number is FAR higher than 2 million.
If I used a gun to stop a criminal attack - would I report it to the police? This is California, so NO.
Larry Elder used to open up this topic on his radio show and tons of people called in describing how they’d used a gun to stop a criminal, i.e. brandishing the gun, - when asked if they called the police, the answer was usually “hell, no!”
I saw were the police are looking for that guy who shot a criminal robber in a Mexican restaurant a few days ago - why? to arrest him?
The police are the first responders
I am the immediate responder.
Stay well - Stay safe - Stay armed.
I will subscribe.
I didn’t finish his book on the subject because it was so incredibly boring.
I know he has great info, but he struggles with dumbing it down for his reader/ listener. Sometimes we just need the simple facts with the basics.
Maybe the newsletter will be better.
And yes im very educated with a masters in criminal justice, so if I struggled with a lot of the book, i just bet I’m not alone.
Maybe five “reported times”, but most go unreported. Someone I know has run ne’er do wells off my ranch, with a firearm, more than that in a year.
