I am a South Dakota native, lived in the state for decades and was a health care lobbyist to the state Legislature. The arm chair quarterbacks demanding Governor Noem’s ideological purity by cutting all ties to Sanford Health simply do not understand the realities in South Dakota. Sanford for good or bad is the largest provider of health care in the state operating not only many of the state’s hospitals, but a large percent of the states nursing homes and long term care facilities. Sanford is also an integral part of the state’s medical school, nurses training and nurse practitioner programs. Think of it like this….you have a neighbor who is a hard core liberal, but every winter takes his snow blower and cleans your driveway, watches your dog while you are on vacation and fixed your leaking kitchen sink and never asks for any payment. Do you tell him to get lost since you don’t like his politics?

You know, it seems like almost every post I make I have to call out former politicians that I really liked, for how they’ve started betraying us.

MTG, Dan Crenshaw, Donald Trump, now Noem.

But they HAVE started betraying our TRUST.

WE didn’t change. THEY did.

And once trust is broken, it’s not easily regained. I hope they can regain my trust, but they seem a lot more interested in just daring me to cut my ties, which I am more than ready to do, and call them out endlessly for it. I don’t care how few of us there are, either. 20 just changed the whole government.
