New Englanders are contending with some of the highest electricity rates in the country this winter as they weather the transatlantic ripple effects of a global gas crunch.
Residents of New England’s six states have thus far enjoyed a relatively mild winter without rolling blackouts. But skyrocketing rates — fueled by natural gas price surges and the war in Ukraine — are taking a toll on a region accustomed to cranking up the heat.

This is good but how do we explain the democrat filth Hassan and Shaheen...for God’s sake!
It’s not the Ukraine war that’s “sqeezing” it but rather filthy democrat politicians.
Their smug commitment to ending carbon based energy should keep them plenty warm.
91 out of 102 counties in illannoy voted republican in the last gubernatorial election. The rat won. It’s the anal fissure of the midwest.
Just crank up the windmills and solar panels. Shouldn’t be a problem LOL.
Build a new gas line from Pennsylvania and be done with it. Stop the communists from blocking it.
Election fraud.
Masshole voters who crossed the border and college students who registered to vote.
Hassan did not win by much at all the first time and this time we suspect more vote fraud.
And as usual, the cities, the bane of EVERY state politically.
I believe it.
Good! I hope the damn Yankees freeze! They want to vote blue, then let them turn blue from the cold!
New York State sits on a huge gas reserve in the Marcellus Shale. They refuse to drill and exploit it. They have the state government they voted for. I do not care how high their electric bills are.
You can’t fix stupid.
You talking about the USA in general or the NE in particular?

Right now there are two dozen intelligence services waiting, watching, spying, snooping, using agents provocateurs, looking for an excuse to justify bigger budgets.
We really are like the old Soviet Union.
The rule of opposites—when they keep bragging about “saving democracy” that means saving their power to propagandize at will and put a boot on your neck.
I tried to find info on oil and gas in New England, The link below shows the boundaries of the Appalacian oil and gas area. It is not in New England at all. It does cover much of New York. This map did not label dark and red spots inside the western side of the Appalacian border, but on another map these spots were identified as oil and gas, and some are in New York.

My electric utility just delivered its annual energy source info sheet. In 5 or more years use of renewables has grown from around 4% to an exciting 7%. I am underwhelmed. We are one of 4 or 5 jurisdictions that were conned into being owned by an Illinois utility with a half dozen old nuclear plants that will cost over a $billion each to decommission in this decade. Will we have to help pay that cost?
