New Englanders are contending with some of the highest electricity rates in the country this winter as they weather the transatlantic ripple effects of a global gas crunch.
Residents of New England’s six states have thus far enjoyed a relatively mild winter without rolling blackouts. But skyrocketing rates — fueled by natural gas price surges and the war in Ukraine — are taking a toll on a region accustomed to cranking up the heat.

That’s horrible. Calling our beloved President “Ukraine War” is even worse than calling him “Brandon”!

New England, like California, has legislated and regulated themselves into a straitjacket in the name of "renewable energy". With the help of the Feds, of course.
The book is "Shorting the Grid" by Merideth Angwin. She is a longtime New England power industry insider. Book gives you chapter and verse about this fiasco. This has happened before, but those folks are much too intelligent to learn from their mistakes.
No sympathy from me, even though I've still got family there.

Over the last 10-15 years, voters and/or political leaders in New England have blocked several major projects to build new or expanded pipelines up there from the Marcellus and Utica gas deposits in Pennsylvania.
I don’t care if those morons freeze to death and bankrupt themselves paying utility bills.

F’n Hill, yeah it’s because of the Ukraine war. Not one mention of Diaper-boy Biden's "green," anti-"fossil fuel" policies being resonsible.

The conflict in the Ukraine should have no bearing on our home heating costs here in New England,
This is just an excuse.

"Using your criterion, then the ENTIRE nation deserves whatever it gets because it voted for the POTATUS." Texas didn't vote for the potatus-head. I limit my criticism to those states that did.

Many won’t..
We have great wood stoves.
And lots of trees.
And besides, not all of us “deserve it”. There are many here voting very conservative. We cannot control the election fraud.
