The XBB.1.5 omicron subvariant is raising concerns of a potential surge in COVID-19 cases as it sweeps across the Northeast.
Officials have warned in recent weeks that the strain is highly transmissible, can more easily evade the immunity offered by vaccines or prior infections than past variants — and is likely to drive cases up around the country.

The hospitals have had three years to prepare for any “surge”.
The afflicted can receive care. The rest of the population can go about their lives as normal.
So what? In most people, it is a cold.

What’s with this XBB? Why doesn’t it have a Greek letter name such as Delta or Omicron? Are they changing the way they name variants of the virus?
And what’s with the fear porn aspect of things? Are we supposed to be scared to death again, interrupt our lives because a virus has mutated? Viruses mutate and have since time immemorial.

This is what? Mutation number 9 or 10? Pharms need to hurry up and get the latest booster out that won't work for this variant so the next mutation can start brewing for the pharms to cook up more fake vax's. What a scam, release a cold bug, make endless dna altering vax to drive this mutation express to further the billions going into medical, federal and political coffers and try to keep their thumbs down control of the masses that believe this endless drivel.
Some heads need to start rolling in the political and medical venues that keep this farce going to line their pockets. Follow the money. They don't even try to hide it anymore, in fact they brag about their scam openly.
They were going to run out of Greek letters soon. Switching to three letters of a 26 letter alphabet gives them 17,576 new variant names. They are ecstatic.
