UPDATE posted around 12:36 am EST:
Kevin McCarthy won the House speakership during the 15th round of voting this week which began late Friday night and spilled over into Saturday after the clock struck midnight. He earned 216 votes.
Andy Biggs of Arizona, Eli Crane of Arizona, Bob Good of Virginia, and Matt Rosendale of Montana, who had previously voted against McCarthy in the first 14 rounds, each voted present in the 15th round, which lowered the threshold McCarthy needed to secure victory — Lauren Boebert of Colorado and Matt Gaetz of Florida, who had switched to present in the 14th vote, voted present again for the 15th round.
Original story below:
For the 14th time this week, Kevin McCarthy has come up short in his quest to clinch the House speakership.
He came closer than he had all week by earning 216 votes — he would have locked up a win if he had been able to reach 217.
Lauren Boebert of Colorado and Matt Gaetz of Florida, who had previously voted against McCarthy in the first 13 rounds, voted present during the 14th vote.
Andy Biggs of Arizona, Eli Crane of Arizona, Bob Good of Virginia, Matt Rosendale of Montana, who had all voted against McCarthy on the first 13 rounds, voted against him again in the 14th round.
A group of more than a dozen Republicans voted against McCarthy in 11 votes this week, including three votes on Tuesday, three on Wednesday, and five on Thursday. Nineteen Republicans opposed McCarthy in the first two votes, but that number increased to 20 when Byron Donalds of Florida, who had voted for McCarthy twice, switched and voted against McCarthy on the third vote.

We can’t continue to settle for this
We put the skeer in them no doubt
I hope most republican supporting fools here finally understand what we are up against
McCarthy didn't "win" anything. Except a title.
Thanks to the efforts of patriots like Gaetz, he conceded much of the recent power of Speaker, which his predecessors such as Pelosi, had consolidated, back to the full House as the founders intended.
Clearly I understand.
By voting Present instead of voting FOR someone other than McCarthy you are lowering the threshold required to allow him to win the election.
Again, clearly the 216 votes for McCarthy and the 212 votes for Jeffries was never going to change. Making them stay in session all weekend would have been better in my not so humble opinion.
Lowering the threshold at midnight on Saturday morning is what we can expect to see for the next 2 years.

“ Nothing short of a Convention of States will bring about any meaningful reforms”
Rubbish. The people who send delegates to your convention are the same ones who sent 212 Democrats and 200 RINOs to the House of Representatives. You’re not voting your way out of this.
The beloved Leftist icon B. Hussein Obama voted “present” 129 times as a one term US Senator.🦨
A proud tradition.😝
If you don’t win the first time, then try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try again
Who else had the votes to win it?
Move on....
Dems and their lapdog media will rub this in and set the scene with “continuing their disarray and chaos the Republicans again show the lack of leadership that has turned off the American public since their Speaker vote fiasco.”
In mentions several times a day every day all year.
Plus everyone against McCarthy will get shunned and their bills won’t get to a vote meaning their home district voters will see them as losers and vote against them. Bad.
Dems have socialist style lockstep unanimity. Dissidents get quietly “disappeared” offstage.
Annndddd. . . the Swamp wins again!
America, and the people who love her, lost.
Well, the next time Kevin sides with the democrats and votes Yea on another $trillion spend, we can say, “Look! We told you so! He’s a RINO!” (Not that will help any).
“The people who send delegates to your convention are the same ones who sent 212 Democrats and 200 RINOs to the House of Representatives.”
So, how are those 20 Patriotic Holdouts doing? Seems like most folded like cheap suits.
>>Nothing short of a Convention of States will bring about any meaningful reforms.
And when that effort fails, then what?
And the stupid party continues to be stupid while America burns.
The Swamp had to cut a deal.
The Freedom Caucus got some concessions.
