NBC Execs Regret Paying Jimmy Fallon $80 Million Contract Extension As Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld Beats 'Tonight Show' In Ratings: Sources

Hapless host Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show is losing the ratings war to FOX News rival Greg Gutfeld — and the TV flop’s sinking number has left NBC brass with buyer’s remorse, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Nearly 19 months after the Peacock Network handed Fallon a whopping $80 million five-year contract extension, The Tonight Show is drawing under 1.3 million eyeballs — less than half the audience of upstart Gutfeld!

But that number is even more shocking when compared to Fallon’s celebrated debut! The Saturday Night Live alum, 48, chalked up an impressive 11 million viewers when he first took over for outgoing legend Jay Leno — but now he’s also being bested in the ratings by Stephen Colbert’s CBS Late Show!

A source said NBC regrets the funnyman’s pricey long-term deal and added, “The network knows the days are gone when tens of millions of people would tune in for The Tonight Show — but they were counting on Jimmy to do better than this!”

The amazing thing is Gutfeld does this with no-name guests. I suppose some is due to streaming and so many choices now, the networks suffer.

... they could have auditioned for 1,000 comedian talk hosts, assigned each one a single night paying them each $80,000, and covered the five years for the same amount, and it might actually have been interesting to watch.

That is actually a great idea!

It seems so hard to function without a phone? How do you do it?

Letterman was funny when he followed the Steve Allen mold of comedy.

He did jump the shark and became very bitter, probably after his office affairs and attempted extortion became public.

It seemed to me that he became bitter late in life and his comedy suffered the same way that George Carlin's did after Carlin's first wife died from cancer.

It’s exhausting to read all those exclamation marks. Such excitement.

I occasionally see those types of stories on Australian news clips.

The only good thing I saw Fallon do on his show was the Breaking Bad parody skit. Prerecorded.

That moron Letterman jumped the shark in the mid 2000s making his show completely unwatchable.

Letterman actually used to be quite funny back in the 80’s on NBC Late Night. But when George W. Bush came along Letterman gave up on comedy and became the prototype for the leftist attack dogs that we have on late night talk shows today.

I know a few young comedians and they are so woke they would rather have a leftist president they can’t make jokes about than a Republican that they can. Of course they can only spout mean and stupid stuff with a R President in office. Real comedy is too much work for them.

Fallon, like all the Leftist late night shows, was always awful.

Nice work NBC. 🍿🍿🍿🍿

No, you’re not out of it, they’re out of it. You’re smart for staying out of their sewer.

Although I haven’t watched cable or network TV in over ten years, I’ve seen brief bits of Fallon, Colbert, Gutfield on YouTube or Rumbke postings. Here’s the takeaway:

Fallon ..... TRASH
Colbert..... TRASH
Gutfield.... OK

But I’m not desiring to see any of them, because I’m always busy and ..... I have a life.

Gutfeld is the only one of the late night comedy show hosts who is not a hardcore Leftist. What’s to distinguish any of the others from each other?

Nothing.

The same goes for their “news” programs where CBS/ABC/NBC/CNN/PBS/MSNBC all compete for the Leftist share of the electorate and get crappy ratings as a result. As lousy as Fox is, they hand it a huge market share by default.

The same goes for Jay Leno. He was a Democrat....but was perfectly willing to make fun of Democrats. They basically ran him off for daring to.....gasp!....make fun of Obama.

You see he was an actual comedian and not just a Democrat propagandist......He was the last one.

Exactly. I used to be a big fan of Letterman....back when he was funny. That was the 1980s through the early to mid 90s.

Fast forward about a decade later and was calling him “Bitterman”. He was. He was just downright bitter - all the time.

Bitter isn’t funny or entertaining.

Letterman’s bitterness escalated when he got caught screwing his staff.

My take:
Fallon used to be funny, pre Obama.
Colbert has never been funny and should retire.
Kimmel has never been funny and should kill himself.
Gutfeld is meh. He takes his schtick way over the top imo.

I just want to know how Kimmel got a football bowl game named after himself?

Liberal morons can make big bucks these days clown around for those night owls who are high on drugs or drunk as hell on booze.
