One of the mysteries of January 6, 2021 was why National Guard troops were not called up to protect the Capitol that day. If that had happened, the story of the lightly defended Capitol on January 6 would likely have been very different.
Well, Politico senior editor Michael Schaffer thinks he knows the reason: Trump's fault. Yes, that all-purpose liberal blame game excuse has come to the fore again as Schaffer puts it forward on Friday in "Trump Politicized the Military. Was That the Real Problem With the Jan. 6 Response?"

Not really. As President, Trump was the C-in-C of the DC Guard. He didn’t need anyone’s permission - or any request - to active the DC Guard.
Nevertheless, you make a good point. If Pelosi did not see the need for the DC Guard, why should Trump?
Politcol’s Senior doesn’t understand that Trump could only offer Fed Troops; Nanc declined twice, ergo, Trump’s hands were tied. Nanc had this choreographed by using Ray Epps as the Chief instigator to encourage protesters to storm the Capitol Building. Numerous vids exist showing Epps with a bull horn as the leader of the assault. Who paid his expenses and who organized the others shown in the vids setting up the protesters to attack the Capitol. Epps is free and the Committee ignored the evidence against him then and now.

Epps was staying at a hotel in D.C.. It must have been very pricey especially since there were many more people in DC at that time than normal. Who paid for Epps' hotel tab? It would have been cheaper to have stayed at a motel outside of D.C.. That is what a normal person of modest means would do.
