Save Thy people, O Lord,
and bless Thine inheritance.
Grant victory to Thy Church over her enemies,
and protect Thy people by Thy Holy Cross!
>But then Putin sent tanks across a sovereign border. Innocents are now being killed.
Does that include the indiscriminate shelling of people by Ukraine right before the invasion?
>My guess is he asked Santa for Bakhmut this Christmas and instead all he got was drone strikes.
Wait a couple of weeks
he is little LOL
he has “little man syndrome” too
(besides being an evil killer)
> Does that include the indiscriminate shelling of people by Ukraine right before the invasion? <
Please don’t get me wrong. Ukraine is run by corrupt and immoral people. But when you invade another country you take things to a whole new level. And that’s exactly what Putin did.
“...the indiscriminate shelling of people by Ukraine...”
It never happened. There was shelling going both ways following Russia’s 2014 invasions. You should be more skeptical of Moscow propaganda. There are thousands upon thousands of Russian-speakers from the Donbas who have been fighting to liberate their hometowns from Russia.
“. But when you invade another country you take things to a whole new level.”
Do you have the same visceral hatred for invaders on the Southern border that have committed all sorts of heinous crimes against our own people, or are you just a Russo-phobe because that’s what the TV told you to believe?
“Like 75% + of Russians support him”
Lol.
Pollster: Do you support the Glorious President Putin?
Person: Not really.
Pollster: I’m sorry, your phone is breaking up. Could you please to stand by a window?
If anything, I’m a Russo-phile. I’ve read a lot about the Eastern Front during WW II, and I have a deep respect for the hardships the Russian people went through. I suppose it will never happen. But I always wanted to shake hands with a defender of Stalingrad. Those men were simply amazing.
Heck, I even took a semester of Russian when I was in college.
But Putin is wrong here. He just is. You had better have a damn good reason for starting a war. That damn good reason doesn’t exist in regards to Ukraine.
Putin is not unique in this regard. Bush II also has blood on his hands. He didn’t need to invade Iraq. But he did so anyway.
Please permit me to add something to my post #29.
I think I might have some understanding of what Putin was thinking, pre-invasion of Ukraine. Russia was invaded three times from the west: Once by Napoleon. Once by Kaiser Wilhelm II. And once by Hitler. Each time the Russian people suffered terribly.
So, yes. Putin had legitimate concerns about Ukraine, and about possible NATO expansion. But he overreacted. As I mentioned earlier, you need a damn good reason to go to war, and to start killing innocents. I just do not see that reason here.
Guess your friend isn't aware that his country is a member of NATO. Given that Putin's incompetent military couldn't even take Kiev, there's a bigger chance that you'll win a billion dollars on Powerball, than of Pooty invading Estonia.
Next time you talk to your Estonian friend, please encourage him or her to get a clue.
;^)
Been to some looong Russian Orthodox Christmas services.
(My Gramps was born in Kiev but considered himself Russian)
Not surprised no-one else showed!
> Guess your friend isn’t aware that his country is a member of NATO. <
I was just kidding about Estonia, of course. But I do have Hungarian relatives. They are quite wary of Russia. As you noted, Russia is not about to invade a NATO country, and Hungary is a member of NATO.
No matter. My Hungarian relatives are wary of Russia. Old habits die hard, I guess.
40 years of Soviet occupation will do that to you.
I’m talking about Feb 2022
You seem like a thoughtful person who would find this discussion extremely informative and interesting, about what led to this war, which the West had been preparing Ukraine, since at least 2014. It was planned that Russia be drawn into this war, though it is apparent Western intelligence made a lot of bad assumptions about Russia, militarily, politically, economically

Yes, Putin right now is bearing a heavy burden. May God guide him.
The man looks tired and dejected.
Not in a jingle bell mood.
I just realized my post 10 was too vague, there was court testimony on Clinton’s small penis.
So, Russia leveled entire towns and the city of Mariupol immediately following the February invasion and you are worried about Ukraine’s shelling? Russian commits all manner of atrocities since 2014 and stages a full scale invasion in February and you only blame Ukraine? Russia earlier invaded the Republic of Georgia. Do you blame the Georgians too? Can the 23-year dictator in Moscow do no wrong in your eyes?
I blame both. And the fact that we Americans as well deposed Yanukovych in 2014 by funding neonazis with Victoria Nuland trying to convince Yanukovych he was going be fine DURING the Sochi Olympics. It’s like killing Caesar. Everyone is to blame.
