The speaker of the House election appears headed for a tenth vote as Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and his allies continue to huddle with the 20 holdouts in his party throughout Thursday's votes.
The same group of GOP lawmakers that have been voting against McCarthy since Tuesday are blocking his candidacy on the ninth ballot. The only changes to yesterday's votes compared to the most recent round come from McCarthy foes Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Josh Brecheen (R-OK), and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who voted for Rep. Kevin Hern (R-OK).
Gaetz (R-FL) had voted for former President Donald Trump on the prior two rounds. Hern continues to vote for McCarthy.

“BS....20 hardheads have to vote for McCarthy. There is no damn alternative....and they know it.”
It is unfortunate you cannot see the bigger picture. Those hardheads are RIGHT... This should be never handed to McCarthy. There is not one advantageous reason why it should be.
Yes the conservatives are pretty dug in. The rules need to be changed back to the way they were for 100 years. Remember the “super Committee?”. At that time I confronted my rep Rob Woodall about this same stuff. Legislation is supposed to be written by legislators, dropped in the hopper and brought to the floor for debate and amendment. Then they vote.
START >>> The fact that 198 Republicans are holding fast for McCarthy tells you all you need to know about the swamp.
It's deep and has a powerful invisible visible whirlpool taking anything and everything within its influence, down to the depths.
~ HOLD THE LINE! ~
To be clear, In my post- I am asking the 20 rebels to hold the line.
Well, McCarthy is what he is.
I agree, how come those in favor of McCarthy don’t get it is beyond me.
McCarthy only works hard for one person. It's surprising how many people still don't seem to understand that.
Boot those 20 morons out of the party
What more can 8% of Republicans extract? I was for Gohmert years ago, but my team lost, obviously.
His actions are reinforcing the narrative that he is none too bright. He went to the election for Speaker and did not have the votes. Schmuck.
For “professional politicians” it’s called “ego-maniacal insanity” or, in many instances, a “messiah complex”.
“Boot those 20 morons out of the party”
For what? Being correct?
“Boot those 20 morons out of the party”...why??
I thought everybody wants representatives who stand for something and don’t just go along to keep their power. I’d settle for 200 MORE morons like them. At least they are trying to make some changes and not letting the status quo continue as it has been. That is why we are where we are today as regards our Congress.
That could parcipate a march on Washington.
You dropped a zero. 200.
Nope, the RINOs will have revealed themselves as Derp State Demonrats.
