They changed it to Windsor after WWI, because the family name was too connected to their German heritage, and anti-German hostility was very high at the time.

Prince Harry has destroyed himself, his reputation and any remaining goodwill that existed before the publication of his book. He has become a pariah to the British people, and will likely end up in exile with the massively destructive Meghan Markle in their California mansion.
The family name of Windsor is barely a hundred years old, as it was changed from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha by George V (Queen Elizabeth's grandfather) in 1917 after England went to war with Germany.
