A Wyoming church elder has had his tabling privileges revoked for a year by the University of Wyoming (UW) after he set up a table on campus calling a trans-identified male student "a male," causing a group of lawmakers to denounce the decision.
According to the Star Tribune, on Dec 2, Laramie Faith Community Church elder Todd Schmidt displayed a sign in the Wyoming Union breezeway saying "God Created Male and Female and [Artemis Langford] is a male." Langford is a trans-identified male student who was accepted into the Kappa Kappa Gamma UW sorority earlier this year.
Schmidt cooperated and was allowed to remain on campus, but the university later decided to revoke Schmidt's tabling rights for one year after conducting a "deeper assessment."
This assessment concerned an examination of university policies and federal case law with regard to freedom of expression and harassment, UW spokesperson Chad Baldwin told the Star Tribune.
"While freedom of expression is cherished on this campus and across this nation, a line was crossed when a student was harassed by name," UW President Ed Seidel said in a statement on Dec 5, while explaining that the "heated exchanges" that had taken place between Schmidt and some students that day were not "in obvious violation of UW policies."

“a line was crossed when a student was harassed by name”
The student made himself a public figure and public figures are fair game for political speech.
Spot on.
Punch back any way you can against these evil organizations.
I was going to say “just wait until he knocks them ALL up” then see what happens.
I spent many a night in a sorority house during my college days. Glad the churchy types weren’t onto me.
I’ve always wondered how people post to the wrong thread. And now I’ve done it. Somehow.
This makes no sense. Is this a boy who thinks he is a girl or a girl who thinks he is a boy. And he’s accepted into KKG? LOL Or maybe she was?
I think this is true. I see it more and more. What a difficult situation this is, though, for the young people, with their way to make in the world. They are deprived of opportunities and connections, unless they agree to insane beliefs.
It is like being asked to recognise Caligula as a god.
