MOSCOW, Idaho — Alleged quadruple killer Bryan Kohberger appeared in Idaho court for the first time Thursday following his closely watched extradition from Pennsylvania.
A Magistrate Court judge is expected to read Kohberger his rights and outline the charges against him during the appearance. He will also officially be assigned an attorney, who sources told The Post is public defender Anne Taylor.
The 28-year-old accused of fatally stabbing four University of Idaho students will not be asked to submit a plea for the four charges of first-degree murder and one charge of burglary he faces, but is expected to eventually plead not guilty.
The hearing Thursday allowed Kohberger’s probable cause affidavit to be released, which finally shed light on why law enforcement arrested him Friday, ending their almost seven-week search.
Kohberger landed at the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport in Washington state around 6:30 p.m. local time Wednesday, wearing a red jumpsuit and shackles.
He was escorted off the plane by three law enforcement officers, and a police motorcade, including a silver truck from the Latah County Sheriff’s Office believed to be carrying him, drove a short distance into Idaho to the Latah County Jail.
Before he made it to Idaho, his defense team had already hired veteran Washington state crime scene reconstruction expert Matthew Noedel.
On Wednesday, Noedel’s team painstakingly examined the inside of the three-story house in Moscow, Idaho, where students Madison Mogen, 21, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, were killed on Nov. 13.
Kohberger, a criminology PhD student who attended nearby Washington State University Pullman, was arrested on Dec. 30 at his parents’ home in Monroe County, Pa.

p
Public defenders paid for by tax dollars or did he actually hire his own defense lawyers?
D.M. heard noises and saw the killer leave but went back to sleep.
It’s confusing
Police say Kohberger was linked to scene through cell phone and dna. Cell phone pings also show phone was in area or murders at least 12 times before morning of killings.
So he’s a PhD candidate in criminology and he doesn’t realize cellphones are tracked?
He’s toast, hopefully the death penalty

They used to fly in potential athletes at night. Party and sign them.
Then then next day flight out was in daylight, over an endless landscape of nothing but wheat fields.
Or so I have heard.
Yeah, will or can a PD use paid help from outside sources?
A PD is usually appointed because the defendant ‘can’t afford a lawyer”.
Yes, but I'm not sure what the $$ limits are.
When a PD is too busy, or conflicted, the court will hire an outside lawyer to do PD work.
But the Miranda statement:
If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed to you free of charge;
If a defendant can hire a crime scene investigator, that seems to negate the ‘cannot afford....’ part.
I read elsewhere that he has been assigned a public defender.
Weird, isn’t it? Would a PD have the resources to hire such an expert contractor? I wouldn’t think so.
AND drove his own car all over the place. What a genius.

There are still a bunch of loose ends here, such as the one who went back to bed after noting the bushy eyebrows. Also, I think the 2 blondes had more going than just being friends. I would not be surprised if this gets spin as anti-gay. But overall, hats off to LE. This is how they should work together. Multiple agencies in multiple states. And they kept their mouths shut while doing it.
