Lol oops *sick to listen to his milque toast voice.
“many FedGov middle managers are in lifelong jobs and cannot be dislodged under existing Civil Service rules.”
They can be moved though—and offered lateral positions in Guam or Puerto Rico—which effectively destroys their influence and authority. If they refuse the transfer then they can be terminated.
The Republican Presidents just haven’t had the stomach or determination to get it done.
Term limits are stupid. It gives the deep state even MORE power.
Yes, retire McCarthy, his double dealing for the swamp has rendered him operationally unacceptable. He cannot be trusted.
And the rules demands of the 20 are NOT unreasonable.THe Gang of 5 led by AOC pulled the Dem party way left, so much so that both Pelosi and Bernie Sanders had to mollify them with concessions and committee assignments.
THe Gang of 20 is much more reasonable and also astute. They do not want to be put to the back of the GOP bus and therefore refuse to vote for McCarthy until changes are in place and guaranteed in writing signed by every GOP Congressman. This is MAGA coming to power, and I am cheering them onward.
If the AOC gang of 5 can exercise their leftist authority, whats wrong with cheering on the Gang of 20? NOt a thing wrong.McCarthy has to bend of hit the rode.
So far he is hitting the road like a mashed up toad.Proving that the gang of 20 are right about him.
Yup
The ONE vote challenge was the rule until Pelosi changed the rule. Was it “ridiculous” all those years before, or is it just now “ridiculous” because 20 or so Conservatives want to return to this standard?
Squabble like children isn’t what is happening. GOVERNING where REPRESENTATIVES actually REPRESENT their constituents is what is happening. I guess, since we have not seen this actually happen in so many years, it may seem petty or “not governing”, but it is in fact how things should happen.
Compromise is necessary, even within the parties...apparently, most Americans think “compromise” means Republicans turning around and bending over for the Democrats!
The Repugnant Party. Snatching defeat out the jaws of victory for 50 years.
Great points condor7
Do you have a problem with Rep. Boebert? Or Gaetz for that matter?
You just contradicted yourself.
1. you complain about legislation being DOA
2. you then immediately complain about border security, the wall, and deportations, all three of which require legislation — which you just said is DOA
which is it? The legislative way or the highway?
I’m talking about meaningful power-of-the-purse legislation—border security, the wall, and deportations. McCarthy and others seem to posture about things that they have no likely ability or stamina to accomplish, talking points, not action. Bottom line is that McCarthy will cut a deal, sell out, instead of stand and fight.
What this is all about.....trimming the power of the Speaker so that COngress can return to representative government.

McConnell and Schumer are next.
But no...too clever for his own good.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
NOw we will see if McCarthy has the “right stuff” to be a real speaker rather than a reincarnate Adolf Hitler like Pelosi had become. If he goes against the Freedom Caucus and tries to exclude them? His life will get miserable quite quickly if he passes in good faith the negotiated house rules package.I see nothing at all wrong with that.
We’ll see whats in the rules package.Clearly Gates and 5 others do not trust McCarthy’s “good faith.”
At this point, stopping the government from doing anything at all is preferable to allowing them to "do something for the American People."
I'll take total gridlock any day.
