The soviet empire is not reconstituting mainly thanks to Ukraine at the moment. Its collapse was putin’s ‘greatest geopolitical catastrophe’, and its reconstitution is his fever dream.
I completely disagree with you.
Russia is dying demographically.
Drugs, booze, abortion, and well below replacement births.
Time is against them.
Ukraine is equally as crooked and immoral as Russia.
Any officer in any military that housed that many troops, in one location, in this conflict needs to be put up against the wall and shot.

Kyiv reported Monday that an attack on New Year’s Eve killed hundreds of Russian soldiers in a temporary shelter in the town of Makiyivka in the eastern Donetsk region. The Russian Defense Ministry first admitted to the deaths of 63 soldiers.
According to media reports, those killed were reservists called up during Moscow’s partial mobilization. They are said to have gathered in the building for a New Year’s celebration.
For the first time, Sevryukov also admitted that mistakes had been made, therefore confirming media reports according to which the Ukrainian military reportedly became aware of the site because of the high activity of mobile phone data traffic.

Russian cell phone conversations are being monitored in real time. They are published transcribed in English on You Tube and then widely republished by others.
The fear and despondency related to wives and mothers back in Russia is good intelligence that is better than killing the soldier callers. The callers on the front relate that they are being killed having never seen an actual Ukranian warrior
There are however lots of real neon signs. Ordinary run of the mill Ukranian soldiers are flying small drones that locate Russians out in the open away from their trench dug outs. The armed drones are summoned and a grenade or small bomb then kills the 4 or 5 that are the designated targets.
It is for real shooting ducks in a barrel.

Add the two, 700 + 63 = 763, then divide by 3 = 254............
The final death toll was about 90. With 130 injured.
