South Carolina GOP Rep. Ralph Norman says California Rep. Kevin McCarthy will only get support to become Speaker of the House from Republicans who currently oppose him if he can reach agreement with them regarding congressional spending.

"I guess a miracle could happen," Rep. Norman answered when asked if McCarthy could do anything to get Republicans who oppose him to vote for him.

A little more information on the McCarthy kerfuffle. The GOP has totally abandoned the conservative principles of reducing taxes AND spending, along with reducing the size of government. Those used to be the top priorities of the right. Now, they spend just as much, if not more, the the left. What ARE their top priorities? Does anyone know these days?

It’s all about exposure now. If the truth matters, we don’t lose regardless of the outcome.

Any agreement would end up meaningless because a budget put on Biden’s desk based upon such agreement would be rejected by Biden to the point of gov’t shutdown(possibly?). After about 2 weeks Biden and Democrats would go on a “Misery tour” blaming Republicans which woukd get top media priority and eventually the GOP would buckle just like they did during the Obama years and cave in to more spending.

Winning the speakership isn’t actually the biggest deal barring Satan recalling his two retarded minions in the executive branch. We have one of three levers, the communists have the other two. We aren’t advancing an American agenda with only that.

Investigating Alzheimers Biden and his walking STD son, while fun and deserved, also doesn’t matter much. None of the criminals will go to prison.

What matters that is achievable is 1) Blocking leftwing bullshit [just need 218 votes for that] 2) Forcing Republican leadership to not interfere in primaries against conservatives like they just did last election. That second provision must be required for any speakership negotiation.

It looks to me like the Republican Party’s war on Trump supporters and America Firsters is comming home to roost.
As best as I can add up the numbers, the current House make up is:
213: Democrats
202: Republicans
20: MAGA or whatever we call them. I sorta like Patriot Party

I have Fox & Friends on and they are making me so mad. Steve Doocy is calling the Repubs not voting for Kevin McCarthy as “saboteurs” and Brian Kilemead calling them “insurrectionists”. They are hammering the issue most of the news first hour. They are not mentioning that Paul Ryan is on the Fox Board, and I feel sure he and others on the board/owners are feeding all 3 of them what they should be saying to get their bias out to the Fox viewers. Bryon Donalds was on to explain his change in vote to Jim Jordan and he said he comes from the business world, and it only takes one board member to call for the “speaker” to step down. Brian Kilmead was talking over him trying to not let the point get across. I found what Bryon Donalds said as enlightening, I didn’t know that. Anyway, Fox is making me mad, they were doing this yesterday as well.

Does he not realize that the house was a democratic house when that spending was happening. McCarthy could not stop it. I’m not sure he understands how the house works. A simple majority is all that’s needed. No filibuster in the house. Perhaps he’s new.

These guys are posturing about spending, the $1.7 trillion discretionary spending bill was already passed by both Houses and signed by Biden.

Over $4 trillion in the Federal Budget is mandatory spending that can only be changed by an Act of Congress.

Good luck with getting the votes to go after Social Security, Medicare, Income Security Programs, etc.

They can try in 2023 but the scenario you laid out will most likely prevail.

“the conservative principles of reducing taxes AND spending, along with reducing the size of government.”

Maybe too many voters rely on money they receive from our government. They can’t vote against that.

Rep. Norman says McCarthy won't get support due to his contribution to gov. overspending

Well that's the "Cocktail Party" explanation, but to be concise:

He's a F'ing RINO!

McCarthy is a rino without a backbone. He is just along for the ride and double retirement, just like Nanc.
