Thanks. AIDS killed my brother. The GloboHomos don’t talk about that.

Catholics have homos, but they do not teach and promote homo.

And clerics of every ilk and flavor cover for and protect each other, like police, even good ones covering for bad ones.

"It’s about grabbing the property and endowments of the churches that are trying to leave."

Bingo, we have a winner.

To split off, the congregation needs to have a super majority. My church voted by the slimmest of margins to remain: 42 leave and 22 to remain. So I doubt that the church will remain in a year. Well over half of the congregation have left and almost all of the people that actually do something, e.g. the church council, are gone. As such, the United Methodist Church will be able to sell a medium size church where the lot itself is worth about half a million dollars. There are plenty of other churches we can go to become new members.

Things are not that rosy in the non-denominational world either. There are countless sex scandals, other forms of abuse scandals and financial scandals. Someone who is a good speaker with an engaging personality can set up his own church. Any deacons or elders are likely to be people he hand-picked and there is no real oversight. So Pastor Bob has a personality cult thing going. People might even informally call it “Pastor Bob’s church.” This is a welcoming scenario for abuse. There are of course more good and faithful pastors than not but a church that is pastor-based with little oversight is not the wisest model.

Non-denominational have the problem that it is purely dependent on the whims of the guy or gal in charge.

It changes and then you have to either go shopping elsewhere or remain.

That isn’t what Christ taught - He left behind us a corpus of teachings. The Apostles were careful to ensure that they all passed on the same information to the bishops they consecrated.

I think that’s kind of the point, I think what the church really wants is the properties and anything else of value attached them

...”Any deacons or elders are likely to be people he hand-picked and there is no real oversight.” Sorta like Francis picking Cardinals & Bishops who think like him....

It’s not quite that simple. The Pope has a lot of power but there are institutional checks. It’s not like, “Hi, I’m your new pastor. From now on, we’ll call it ‘Frank’s Church’ - I think that’s a catchy name. Here are the new deacons I chose. Oh, I decided to change several church doctrines. You will find the changes in today’s bulletin.”

Blocking a member church from leaving will just result in the members of that congregation finding a new church to attend.

The Georgia conference leadership doesn’t care. They will cut off their nose to spite their face. Their point is not to keep members but to destroy the structure while they still can. They are wholly satanic.
