Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) said the hard-line opponents to House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) becoming the next Speaker “are enemies now.”
Crenshaw told CNN’s Manu Raju on Tuesday ahead of the Speakership vote that those dug in against McCarthy will “obviously” not get the committee assignments they want over their defiance, but “it’s going to be so much worse than that.” “They are enemies now,” he said. “They have made it clear that they prefer a Democrat agenda than a Republican one.”
Crenshaw earlier on Tuesday dismissed the idea that opponents to McCarthy had a viable alternative who could win enough votes to become Speaker, telling Fox News that they are engaging in a “childish” attempt to gain notoriety.

McCarthy needs 218 to be speaker, first round found he didn’t get 19 of the GOP votes, meaning he got 203 votes, 15 shy of the required.
If those 19 are now the “enemy” then no one has a majority to do anything in the house...
Wasn’t this the same guy lecturing about not doing the “if you aren’t with us your against us” mentality just a little bit ago.

She has a quality of being unlikeable and it seeps through even just by viewing her online.
Crenshaw has just made me his enemy. No roomate of Frank Lunz, political consultant, is fit to be Speaker of the House. McCarthy has proven he is no friend of conservatives. With the same leadership, why would anything change?

If this drama ends with a House speaker beholden to Democrats, then I’ll agree with Crenshaw. For now, let’s see how this plays out over the next few days - if Gaetz and his friends can force some commitments from McCarthy that will ensure he shows some spine, I’m all for that.
Conservatives were already being treated like enemies by McCarthy & Co, which is why they can’t be easily swayed with threats.
