Is taking the life of an innocent person wrong? Yes of course, ergo, abortion as we’ve defined it is always wrong, because it is an intentional act to exact a death penalty on someone undeserving — and this is where President Trump falls victim to fallacy.
If abortion is wrong because it kills an innocent person, then tragic circumstances of conception are not grounds to end a life. Concede to the “rape and incest” position, the entire anti-abortion movement collapses in on itself, and you become no different than the pro-murder leftist.
“Compromise” says this: The right to life begins at conception, unless... the child is the product of rape or incest… or the child will grow up in poverty… or the mother isn’t ready to be a mother…. It’s all the same. Two wrongs do not make a right, and what kind of “justice” sees an innocent person pay in place of the guilty?
Pro-life apologists often show people two images, two ultrasounds of two children in the womb. Their cherubic profiles with little noses and little lips, little legs and little feet. They lay out this hypothetical: “One of these children was conceived in an incestuous rape; which one needs to die for their father’s sin?” Of course, these children are indistinguishable from one another, and you cannot deny their humanity.
If abortion was a big effect on the midterms how come the Republicans won a bunch of seats they shouldn’t have in New York Northern Virginia California and other places where abortion should have been much bigger deal?
Olivia Murray is a simp.
We weren’t “never to be seen again”. We were largely shut out from the media brouhaha, and worked on the ground game. SBA List was very active, they just weren’t on the channels Trump watches.
This is not Trump’s best issue for presentation, but he actually acted as president (and not just on judicial picks), so I give him credit for that.
Abortion is not an issue that lends itself to “The Art of the Deal”.
Deep State’s divide and conquer campaign is continuing apace, I see.
Nope.
Not playing.
Trump is wrong on this one and I am disappointed with him on this. His actions were great in the pro-life agenda so I hope he doesn’t go soft now.
One of the reasons my first wife became my first wife (her choice) was that she became a proto-woke academic and I remained an evidence-and-reason academic. Whenever we had intellectual discussions, my evidence and reason generally squashed her myths and feelings, at which point she would complain that I was attacking her like a steamroller and never giving value to her views. It's why attempting to be reasonable to anyone with any level of wokeness is a fool's errand. However...
"It was the ‘abortion issue,’ poorly handled by many Republicans, especially those that firmly insisted on No Exceptions, even in the case of Rape, Incest, or Life of the Mother…."
Sorry, Donald, this is a hill to die on, or as E-Knock puts it, "Don't you hold me back, I would die for this." If you want to lose me and a few million of your followers, just keep doing what you're doing.
Olivia, Lindsey Graham proposed a nation wide ban just before the election. That was an unforced error on his part. It drove up democrat fervor, and was entirely unnecessary.
The issue has been sent back to the states, where it belongs. Fedgov agitating for laws to enforce or ban abortion should be completely off the table.
You offer an apologetics class to reaffirm the basic stance of pro lifers, but you do not address the constitutional matter of fedgov not belonging in the abortion debate.
LOL...sounds like a petulant teenager...” It wasn’t my fault”...said in a high whiney voice...:)
The fact is, there are any anti-abortion people that advocate for “no exceptions” including for “the life of the mother”. I’ve never heard of a single person that fits that description, much less a whole bloc.
Trump goes after arguably the most loyal members of his base. Stable genius.
I have to agree on this.
President Trump is off-base on this issue.
As a strategic aside, Lindsey Graham purposefully used the issue to tank the mid-terms for MAGA supporters.
That being said, President Trump needs to correct this ASAP.
It was people who stayed home
Tribulation right around the corner!
I think he’s referring to stunts like Graham did, pushing legislation that has no chance of passing and giving the other side ammunition.
Roe v. Wade was overturned primarily because President Trump kept his promises to conservatives.
Why would pro-lifers not support Trump or not bother to show up to vote now? Does anyone really believe this battle is over or that we can leave it to the RINOs to fight for what is right?
