~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: Naval Air Station Joint Reserve
Base Fort Worth, Texas

TXnasjrbfw2

Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth includes Carswell Field, a military airbase located 5 miles west of the central business district of Fort Worth, in Tarrant County, Texas. This military airfield is operated by the United States Navy Reserve. It is located in the cities of Fort Worth, Westworth Village, and White Settlement in the western part of the Fort Worth urban area.

NAS Fort Worth JRB is the successor to the former Naval Air Station Dallas and incorporates other Reserve commands and activities, primarily those of the Air Force Reserve, that were present on site when the installation was known as Carswell Air Force Base, a former Strategic Air Command (SAC) facility later transferred to the Air Combat Command (ACC).

Several United States Navy headquarters and operational units are based at NAS Fort Worth JRB, including Naval Air Reserve air wings and aviation squadrons, intelligence commands and Seabees.

The Air Force Reserve Command's Tenth Air Force (10 AF) headquarters and its 301st Fighter Wing continue to be based at the installation, as well as the 136th Airlift Wing (136 AW) of the Texas Air National Guard. A Marine Aircraft Group, several aviation squadrons, and various ground units of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve are also co-located at NAS Fort Worth JRB.

TXnasjrbfw5

Currently based aircraft are Navy C-40 Clipper transports of the Naval Air Reserve, Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters of the Air Force Reserve Command and C-130 Hercules airlift aircraft of the Texas Air National Guard, and Marine Corps F/A-18 Hornet strike fighters and KC-130 Hercules aerial refueling and transport aircraft of the Marine Corps Reserve. Recently, the U.S. Army Reserve also based a battalion of RC-12 Guardrail reconnaissance aircraft at NAS Fort Worth JRB.

TXnasjrbfw6

NAS Fort Worth JRB units schedule a variety of airspace. The key area for fighter operations is the Brownwood Military Operations Area (Brownwood MOA). This MOA, originally developed to serve Commander, Naval Air Force Reserve (COMNAVAIRRESFOR) and 4th Marine Aircraft Wing (4th MAW) fighter and fighter/attack squadrons stationed at the former Naval Air Station Dallas, now serves as the primary airspace resource for all fighter/attack units assigned to NAS Fort Worth JRB.

It is scheduled by the NAS Fort Worth Operations Department; consolidated scheduling was evaluated for a period of time and the decision made to return this area to the Navy for scheduling.

The base's runway is also used by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, as their large Fort Worth assembly facility (where the F-16 Fighting Falcon and the F-35 Lightning II are built) is located adjacent to the base.

THANKS FOR THE TRIP. SOME OF THOSE PHOTOS MAKE ME WAX NOSTALGIC, NOT THAT I’VE EVER BEEN TO FT. WORTH AIR BASE, BUT FOR WHEN I WAS YOUNG, BOLD, AND IMMORTAL. JUST A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO, IT SEEMS.

IT’S THE SECOND DAY OF THE NEW YEAR, AND I DON’T SEE NO CHANGE! I GUESS I STILL HAVE THE IMPATIENCE OF YOUTH! ;-)

HOWDY ALL!

Rescue Mission
Read: Psalm 38:11–22

Lord, I wait for you; you will answer, Lord my God. Psalm 38:15

Volunteers at a farm animal rescue organization in Australia found a wandering sheep weighed down by more than seventy-five pounds of filthy, matted wool. Rescuers suspected the sheep had been forgotten and lost in the bush for at least five years. Volunteers soothed him through the uncomfortable process of shearing away his heavy fleece. Once freed from his burden, Baarack ate. His legs grew stronger. He became more confident and content as he spent time with his rescuers and the other animals at the sanctuary.

The psalmist David understood the pain of being weighed down with heavy burdens, feeling forgotten and lost, and desperate for a rescue mission. In Psalm 38, David cried out to God. He had experienced isolation, betrayal, and helplessness (vv. 11–14). Still, he prayed with confidence: “Lord, I wait for you; you will answer, Lord my God” (v. 15). David didn’t deny his predicament or minimize his inner turmoil and physical ailments (vv. 16–20). Instead, he trusted that God would be near and answer him at the right time and in the right way (vv. 21–22).

When we feel weighed down by physical, mental, or emotional burdens, God remains committed to the rescue mission He planned from the day He created us. We can count on His presence when we cry out to Him: “Come quickly to help me, my Lord and my Savior” (v. 22).Xochitl Dixon

How has God revealed His faithfulness when you’ve felt weighed down? How has God used others to comfort and support you?

Gracious God, help me to encourage others who feel weighed down, lost, or forgotten.

Bible in a year: Genesis 7–9; Matthew 3

Good evening TigerHawk! Hope you have a youthful New Year!

Born and raised in Fort Worth, still here. Some of us still call it Carswell, and it’s been a big part of our community for as long as I can remember.

Go FROGS!

Happy New Year MA!

Just really cold here for a couple of days and now back in the 70’s! Just a few bruised outdoor plants.

Always interesting here for sure!

We looked at around the same time, though I pulled it up as soon as I woke up. LOL Nothing really going on at the time but a little later, tornados were starting to fire up.
That mess comes through here tomorrow and I hope it calms down by then. BUT I do hope for a good dose of rain. We’re bone-dry and need it bad.

Howdy, PRO.

Is your weather calming down and giving y’all some dry time yet?

Balmy here today ahead of the cold front moving across tomorrow night. It felt like April rather than January and we’ll probably pay for it tomorrow. Still enjoyed it immensely today.
