A Ukrainian oligarch was arrested in a French ski resort, Ukrainian law enforcement said Wednesday. Officials said Konstantin Zhevago was detained in Courchevel, a famed Alpine ski destination. Ukraine said his property, including millions of dollars in shares, were seized.

A Ukrainian oligarch was arrested at an elite French ski resort, Ukraine's State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) said.

French law enforcement detained Konstantin Zhevago in a hotel in the famed alpine ski resort of Courchevel on Tuesday, the agency said in a statement.

An DBR spokesperson said French police made the arrest after Ukraine asked for it, Interfax reported.

Zhevago is a former Ukrainian MP and used to have a major stake in the liquidated Finance & Credit Bank in Ukraine.

A press release announcing his arrested cited a slew of anti-financial crimes including embezzlement and money laundering.

The DBR said in July 2021 that Zhevago had been put on a international wanted list on suspicion of embezzlement and money-laundering after $113 million disappeared from Finance & Credit Bank, Reuters reported.

The agency said that a vast swathe of Zhevago's assets had been seized, including shares worth of millions of dollars and dozens of properties.

Dekulakization continues. Why do they need to rob them with so much foreign aid on hands?
And if one wants a thief, look no further than Ze-clown.

Odd how Hunter was making $50,000 a month as a consultant on energy in Ukraine (hardly ever traveling there) but the only energy experience he had is how to light up a crack pipe. However, he is the son of the “big guy” who ensured Ukraine received their billions in US foreign aid when VP at the time.

Our government is just as corrupt as the Ukraine or Mexico, China, Egypt...

The difference being that in the US ***ONLY*** the top layer of government is for sale. Congress is literally for sale, what do you think a lobbyist does?

Examples of each can be provided:

Buying art
Giving relatives cushy jobs
Making sure relatives get preferential business deals
$20,000 a plate dinners
Speaking fees
Lobbyists wining, dining, etc.
Insider trading (what it amounts to)
Hiring the politician as soon as they leave office
Setting up a non-profit or foundation someone can “donate” to
Direct party or campaign contributions
Private firms/individuals setting up organizations to back a candidate or attack the opponent but not paying a party or campaign

Your/our political leadership is “literally” for sale.

Why do you think most leave office far wealthier, sometimes by an order of magnitude, than when they came into office? Some never had a real job, never owned a real business etc., yet are worth millions on a salary that while very good would never achieve that sort of wealth.

For a federal employee, having someone pay for a lunch that’s in excess of $20 can be an ethical violation, meanwhile Hunter Biden (no artistic talent whatsoever) sells paintings in NY for $75,000 each, in fact 5 in one night: https://nypost.com/2021/10/07/hunter-biden-sells-five-prints-for-75k-each-as-nyc-show-pushed-back/ It was well known, that if you wanted the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to take a personal interest in your issue, hire Bill Clinton and pay him a few million to give a speech, or donate to the Clinton Foundation: https://www.arabianbusiness.com/gcc/bill-clinton-paid-5-6m-by-dubai-s-gems-front-charity-arm-601472

Now, the difference is that the mid and low level government officials are not allowed to do the same. For them that constitutes corruption, ethical violations or a conflict of interest. If a US cop takes $200 and doesn’t write up a DUI, that’s unacceptable to the American public, but ironically the most senior officials in the US that are in charge of that cop are doing just that.

BTW, what ever happened to BLM which just magically appeared a year before the elections and then vaporized shortly after? How did that happen?

So, while a GS-9 DOJ employee gets polygraphed, background checked to include an investigation, interviewed, drug tested, has his travels, relatives, alcohol use and financials scrutinized, his senior leadership takes money from the PRC: https://nypost.com/2022/01/27/chinese-elite-have-paid-some-31m-to-hunter-and-the-bidens/

Countries we call “corrupt,” like Mexico or Ukraine are simply places where that mid and lower level government official is also on the take. But do not believe that our government at the most senior levels is even 1% cleaner than say the Egyptians, Spaniards, Guatemalans... Ross Perot once said, “Congress is for sale to the highest bidder.” He wasn’t wrong.

Dictator Zelensky implemented “anti-oligarch” laws (without parliament’s approval) to ensure no political opponents remain who can challenge him.

It is just one of many laws Zelensky created with a phone and pen, learning from his mentor, Obama.
