It wouldn’t be nearly as bad if all those billions in arms diverted into the illegal foreign arms market had been used to kill Russian boys. I guess that laundry tab has to be paid somehow.
“Current US procurement plans do not seem to factor in long-term support for Ukraine, nor are there any procurement plans being discussed that will. While Russia claims that “demilitarizing” Ukraine is one of its primary objectives during its ongoing special military operation, it appears that the US and NATO are also – in a way – being demilitarized.”
Oof.
In before the REEeeeeeeeing! Zeepers!
“...numbers NATO couldn’t provide Ukraine no matter how much it wants to.”
Yep, the West will need to develop its military industry base virtually from scratch, while Russia, instead, kept theirs intact...cost Russia quite a bit over the years, but rather than make an excuse such as ‘a protracted ground war will never happen’, they just did what we should have also done.
So I estimate late 2024, at best (if all our extended supply lines through), before we can step up production significantly. I speculate that our masters in DC are just now figuring that out.
The Ukraine Crisis is starting to resemble the Climate Crisis.
USA, sacrifice and pay the hell up! Only 9.3 years or months or whatever left!
And the Russians are adept at fighting a winter war.
Ukraine 1991-2023 RIP
US has only managed to scrape together 90 T-72 tanks which require refurbishment. ==
It is not just refurbishing they need. It is just old export version of t72. Like those from Iraqi army of Saddam times.
They may inflict some damage before will flame but barely. For Russian armor and antiarmor they are just target practice.
